Carly Pearce recently shared a health update, reflecting on her journey with pericarditis—a heart condition she was diagnosed with in 2020 but revealed publicly in 2024.

In a conversation with Fox News, the “Truck On Fire” singer opened up about how she’s managing her condition and focusing on long-term wellness. According to Mayo Clinic, pericarditis is “swelling and irritation of the thin, saclike tissue surrounding the heart,” and the most common symptom of the “mild” heart issue is typically chest pains.

Pearce, 34, told the publication that she is “doing a lot better” and continues to prioritize her health.

“I’m still kinda just on a health journey in general, just to continue to hope that this recurrent pericarditis isn’t recurrent,” she said.

The Kentucky native also encouraged others to pay attention to their bodies and speak up for themselves when speaking to medical professionals.

“My biggest piece of advice for anybody is: Listen to your body and be your own advocate because a lot of doctors dismissed me, and I was persistent until I got a diagnosis,” she revealed.

Earlier this year, Pearce detailed her symptoms while chatting with TODAY, and admitted that there were times when they were “debilitating.”

“I had a really debilitating chest pain that was only relieved if I bent over like this (leaning forward), and that’s a classic symptom of pericarditis,” she explained at the time. “And then when you lay back, it gets way worse, because that wall is kind of inflamed around your heart.”

She also recalled experiencing “shortness of breath.”

These days, things are looking up for Pearce, who is now working closely with the American Heart Association to bring awareness to pericarditis.

“I’m doing better. I’m healthy, I’m trying to find my new normal,” she said.

While Pearce publicly shared her diagnosis for the first time in 2024, she’s actually been living with the condition since 2020 and has experienced “several flares” since her original diagnosis.

“With a busy schedule, I just have to maintain balance more, maybe not going a thousand percent when I’m running, or maybe walking on a day that I feel a little bit less myself and just trying to figure out ways to keep my mind and my body just more calm,” she explained. “You only get one heart.”

Carly Pearce is currently in the midst of her hummingbird world tour, which will make its way to Columbus, Ohio, Indianapolis, Indiana, and Knoxville, Tennessee this week. The trek continues through May when it’s set to wrap up at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.

Later this summer, Pearce will appear alongside artists like Cody Johnson and Little Big Town.

She recently released hummingbird: no rain, no flowers, a deluxe version of her critically acclaimed fourth studio album. The project includes five brand-new tracks.

“What I hope that fans get out of this entire chapter in my story is that you can go through hard things and be better for them, and that there is light at the end of the tunnel,” she previously shared of the deluxe album. “Getting to play some of these new songs live on the road has shown me that we are all going through the same things in life and we all need to feel sunshine after the storm.”
