Carrie Underwood made her return to NBC’s Sunday Night Football, starring in the opening segment for the season opener on Sunday (Sept. 13).

The superstar performed a newly recorded rendition of “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” for the new clip, which marks Underwood’s eighth consecutive season appearing in the SNF opening.

The new opening clip showcases shots of Underwood in the recording studio as well as performing the clip over computer-generated images of city skylines and fan-submitted video clips. Various NFL players also appear in the video.

The 2020 show open was filmed abiding to social-distancing and without extras in the studio or stadium. Instead, the unique opening features user-generated content showcasing fans cheering on their favorite teams. The show open also features remotely filmed cameos from various NFL players.

“We are excited about this year’s new collaboration with Carrie, including scenes in the recording studio, and look forward to uniquely incorporating the game’s great fans,” Tripp Dixon, creative director of the SNF show open, previously shared.

The clip will air prior to each Sunday Night Football game on NBC.
