Several country stars have stepped up to do what they can for those who experienced great tragedy over the weekend as a result of Hurricane Helene. Yesterday, Chris Janson and his family joined the efforts by gathering necessary supplies from local businesses and transporting them to the people in need.

The country singer posted a clip to Instagram bringing awareness to the situation. He showcased how he, his wife Kelly, their kids, and his songwriter friend Mitch Oglesby came together to help the affected communities who are in need of water and snacks. Some of the items were donated by Bass Pro Sevierville, Tenn. and Nashville stores and some were purchased by Janson himself.

“Hey guys. So we’re here loading up a bunch of stock, a bunch of water, and a bunch of non-perishables for all the people in East Tennessee, and maybe even some in Western North Carolina,” he said in the clip. “My friends from Bass Pro shops are joining me on this big venture and my family. We loaded up the plane. We loaded up the truck. Keep these guys in your prayers, these girls in your prayers, all these families, they’re really suffering a lot of devastation over there. We’re going to do what we can and I encourage you guys to do the same.”

In the same post, he shared snapshots of all the supplies as they were being loaded onto the trailer and plane before being sent to local churches in East Tennessee. They also made sure to document the devastating scenes that they witnessed on the drive through the towns in order to give the public a clear understanding of just how much tragedy these communities are facing.

“Headed to east Tn today with water & food. Ya’ll please pray for everyone that has been hit hard from this hurricane. I’ll know more tonight after going over 🙏🏽,” Kelly wrote in her recent Instagram post.

The “Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get” singer noted how “helpless” he felt seeing the photos and videos of people’s homes being washed away, as well as their pleas for help in the ongoing search for missing family members.

“After seeing the devastation on social media and feeling helpless we wanted to get there as soon as possible and get water to them. It was heartwarming to see the generosity in the area and the churches that have been there for the people in this community,” Janson shared in a statement.

According to a report by Knox News, at least six people have died in East Tennessee as a result of Hurricane Helene and related events. That number could continue to rise.

The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) is currently working alongside the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Health, and the Highway Patrol to continue the search for over 100 missing loved ones.

In addition to the search efforts, TEMA is prioritizing the damage to the public drinking water systems that left thousands without water

Anyone with missing loved ones or seeking updates can contact 800-TBI-FIND for more updates and information regarding the search.

Donations can be made to the American Red Cross.
