As the anticipation for his new album continues to build, Chris Young is giving fans another taste of new music with the release of “Town Ain’t Big Enough,” his duet with Lauren Alaina.
The song features a familiar storyline, in which a couple breaks up and continues to cross paths in their small town.
“Your friends and mine run into each other all the time/ Seems like there ain’t no place to run/ This town ain’t big enough for both of us/This town ain’t big enough,” they sing throughout the chorus.
The breakup anthem was co-written by Young with Cary Barlowe, Corey Crowder and Dan+ Shay’s Shay Mooney. Mooney also provides background vocals on the song.
“I’ve been through plenty of breakups,” Young shared with Entertainment Tonight of the inspiration behind the song. “It’s that feeling of not just you, but OK, my friends run into your friends and I have to hear about it too. It could be a town with two stop lights or it could be Atlanta. It’s just one of those things where there’s that much love and that many feelings pinned up… it’s just tough.”
Available everywhere now, “Town Ain’t Big Enough” will also appear on the superstar’s forthcoming Raised On Country album.
On top of debuting his new collaboration with Lauren Alaina, Young also just announced plans to extend his headlining Raised On Country Tour. With 19 newly-added dates, the tour will now run through November 23. Eli Young Band and Matt Stell will join him on the just-added dates.
