Clay Walker is expanding his family yet again.
Walker, 50, and his wife, Jessica, 37, are expecting their fifth child together – his seventh – and the couple could not be more excited.
“Our kids all have a really good foundation and because our family is rock solid, welcoming another child into our home and into our lives is a blessing,” he shared with People.
Their new baby boy will join their children Ezra Stephen, 2½, Elijah Craig, 7, Mary-Elizabeth, 10, and William Clayton, 12, as well as his daughters from a previous marriage: Skylor, 21, and MaClay, 24.
Mary-Elizabeth was hoping for a sister as she’s the only girl with three brothers, but once the news settled in, she came to terms with the fact that she’s the only girl.
“The shock of it being another boy, for Mary, it lasted a couple of hours. There were some tears shed, I won’t lie,” Walker confessed. “It was because of expectation, but that was overcome with the thought that we’re not in control of that. We don’t decide if it’s a boy or girl, and she was able to understand that after a while.”
Clay and Jessica’s son is expected to arrive around the second week of January 2021. The couple already has his name picked out and it’s a nod to Walker’s great-great-grandfather, Christian.
Clay Walker recently signed with Toby Keith’s record label, Show Dog Nashville. He is currently working on his first project for the label.
