Cody Johnson was forced to postpone two upcoming concerts due to illness.

The five-time CMA Awards nominee took to social media late Wednesday to share the news, expressing that he was “feeling down” about it and hoping his fans would understand.

“Due to illness over the past several days, which has unfortunately resulted in a loss of voice, Cody Johnson’s shows in Charlotte and Charleston this weekend will be postponed,” the statement reads. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.”

Fans flooded the comments section with well-wishes and messages for a speedy recovery.

The shows impacted include Charlotte, North Carolina, originally scheduled for Friday, September 20, and Charleston, South Carolina, planned for September 21.

Johnson and his team encouraged fans to “stay tuned” for additional information regarding the rescheduled concert dates.

The news comes shortly after the Texas native sent fans into a frenzy by revealing his upcoming duet with Carrie Underwood, “I’m Gonna Love You,” which is set for release on Friday, September 27.

Johnson has teased this collaboration for quite some time, so it’s safe to say that fans are more than ready for it.

Prior to the release of his latest album, Leather, Johnson revealed that he had recorded a duet with Underwood, but when the album’s track listing was finally revealed, the duet was nowhere to be found.

He later hinted that it could be a part of a deluxe version of the project that would include “some really cool stuff.”

“The deluxe edition that’s coming out is gonna have some really cool stuff on it and we decided to kind of wait. Her team has been very, very easy to work with and we’re trying to wait for the right time to reveal what we’ve done,” Johnson previously told Country Now.

While further details surrounding the project have yet to be revealed, fans can expect “I”m Gonna Love You” to drop next Friday. A sneak peek of the song was revealed on Johnson’s socials, however, Underwood’s vocals were not included in the portion of the song that was teased.

Cody Johnson is currently up for five awards at the upcoming 58th Annual CMA Awards: Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year for Leather, Single of the Year for “Dirt Cheap” and two nominations in Music Video of the Year for both “The Painter” and “Dirt Cheap.”

“I’m honored that so many great songwriters have entrusted me with the success of their songs; that’s not something I take lightly,” Johnson shared upon hearing the news. “Having two songs that I’ve recorded in the category for ‘Song of the Year’ makes me so happy for them! However, being nominated for five CMA awards as an artist that has worked his entire life to get to this point is an incredible feeling that I honestly can’t put into words right now. I’m so thankful that I never gave up, and I’m so thankful that I get to record and sing country music!  I love my job.”

Cody Johnson’s next scheduled tour date is set for October 11 in St. Paul, MN.
