Johnson Praises Underwood
He went on to praise Underwood and her team.
“So, getting to know her, man she’s such a pro and everybody that she surrounds herself with are all very professional as well. And I don’t mean this to sound bad, but it’s kind of hard to compete with that,” he said.
Underwood recently co-hosted Country Countdown USA alongside Lon Helton and Underwood revealed that she’s often pitched duets and is very selective on who she chooses to sing with.

“We get requests every week, and it has to make sense,” Underwood shared at the time. ”Musically it has to make sense. Timing is important. Sometimes I don’t get why they would ask me. I don’t make any sense with that person. But it’s all good. I feel like it’s a compliment.”
Facing Off At CMT Music Awards
Before their duet is released, Johnson and Underwood are both vying for the coveted Video of the Year trophy at the 2023 CMT Music Awards.
Underwood, who holds the title of the winningest artist in CMT Music Awards history, is nominated for the video for “Hate My Heart,” while Johnson is nominated for his “Human” music video.
