Over the summer, Cody Johnson revealed he was working on three new albums – a live album, a concept album, and a new studio album. On Friday (Nov. 4) he announced that one of these projects will come to light on December 2 with the help of his longtime touring band.
The Texas native took to social media to unveil the news about the new LIVE collection titled, Cody Johnson & The Rockin’ CJB Live.
His caption read, “I’m excited to announce my LIVE album, Cody Johnson & The Rockin’ CJB Live, is out December 2 AND available for pre-order tonight at 11 pm CT!”
Johnson gave fans a hint of what to expect on the rest of the album by releasing the live version of his single, “Human.”
“Can’t wait for y’all to hear the first live track off the album, #Human, out all all platforms tonight,” he continued.
The platinum-selling artist has spent the year touring and accomplishing one feat after another. This upcoming project was recorded live during his time on the road in June, which entailed back-to-back-to-back sold-out concerts, bringing him to a total of 40 sold-out shows this year.
“There is nothing I enjoy more than getting to play live shows with this band,” Johnson shared. “We’ve travelled a lot of miles in the last 15 years and lived a lot of life together. This record is allowing us to deliver a live concert directly to the fans.”
Cody Johnson & The Rockin’ CJB Live will follow the “Me and My Kind” singer’s 2021 full-length projects, A Cody Johnson Christmas and Human: The Double album.
In the last year, Johnson has also released a critically acclaimed, award-winning feature-length documentary, Dear Rodeo: The Cody Johnson Story, sent his most successful single to country radio with the double platinum-selling, two-week #1 single “’Til You Can’t,” and added more RIAA platinum and gold singles to his resume.
“I knew that, ‘’Til You Can’t,’ was going to be huge when we recorded it, but nobody ever wants to say the H-word. Nobody wants to say hit. And I’m like it’s pretty big, it just feels big. This was from the time that we had it as a demo. When we recorded it, I went, ‘this is incredible, this is bigger than where I am,’” he previously shared with Country Now.
He has a few more dates scheduled on the road before the year comes to a close. One especially significant appearance will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 9 during the 56th Annual CMA Awards. Johnson heads into the star-studded event as a four-time nominee and a first-time performer.
Tune in LIVE, Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 8/7c for “Country Music’s Biggest Night” on ABC.
The singer also recently revealed that he has a slew of new dates on his calendar for next year with country star Randy Houser.
“#COJONation! I’m headed your way with my bud @randyhouser in 2023 with a ton of new dates! Check out my website for info on all newly announced shows.”
This trek of shows is slated to kick off January 20 with a sold concert in Lafayette, LA with special guests Randy Houser and Jesse Raub Jr. Then Cody Johnson will serve as support for Luke Combs’ World Tour beginning August 9 in Parnell, New Zealand.
