ACM New Male Artist of the Year nominee just dropped an acoustic cover of Brooks & Dunn’s “Red Dirt Road” and it’s pure country gold.

The clip showcases the Texas native strumming an acoustic guitar while backed by members of his band. Seated in what appears to be an empty bar, Johnson’s commanding vocals bring the beloved song to life.

Watch the just-released acoustic cover above.

Johnson previously teamed up with Brooks & Dunn to cover the song on the duo’s 2019 Reboot album. “Red Dirt Road” was written by Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn and released in 2003. It soon reached No.1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and is regarded by many as one of the best songs in Brooks & Dunn’s catalog.

Cody Johnson is currently on tour with Miranda Lambert, performing as direct support on her Wildcard Tour through May.
