Nominees For 2020 ACM Awards Revealed

Nominees for the 55th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards were revealed Thursday morning (Feb. 27) during a digital press conference hosted by the Academy of Country Music. Artists and various media personalities took to Twitter to share the nominees throughout the morning.

Maren Morris, Thomas Rhett and Old Dominion lead the nominees with five nods each.

Morris is nominated for five trophies in four categories, including her fourth Female Artist of the Year nomination and her first-ever Group of the Year nomination as part of the all-female quartet, The Highwomen. The superstar is also nominated in the Album of the Year category twice, both as an aritst and producer for her sophomore album, GIRL. Additionally, Morris is up for Music Event of the Year alongside Miranda Lambert, Ashley McBryde, Tenille Townes, Caylee Hammack and Elle King, for their collaboration of “Fooled Around and Fell in Love.”

Rhett also earned five nominations in four categories, including his very first Entertainer of the Year nomination. He is nominated twice for his album Center Point Road, as artist and producer, in the Album of the Year category. The singer/songwriter also received his first-ever Video of the Year nomination for “Remember You YOung,” and a nod in the Male Artist of the Year category.

Old Dominion also scored five nominations, including their fifth nomination for Group of the Year. The band also received nominations for Song of the Year and Video of the Year as well as twice in the Single of the Year category (for artist and producer) for “One Man Band.” Additionally, Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen and Brad Tursi each received nominations as songwriters in the Song of the Year category for “One Man Band.”

Famed producer Dan Huff is celebrating five ACM nominations as well, with a nomination for Album of the Year with Thomas Rhett’s Center Point Road, Music Event of the Year for “What Happens in a Small Town” with Brantley Gilbert and Lindsay Ell and Single of the Year as a producer of “What If I Never Get Over You” with Lady Antebellum.

Dan + Shay, Justin Bieber and Blake Shelton follow with four nominations each.

Dan + Shay’s Shay Mooney received his very first individual nomination as a songwriter for “10,000 Hours” in the Song of the Year category. Plus, Dan Smyers received two individual nominations as a songwriter in the Song of the Year category and as a producer in the Music Event of the Year category for “10,000 Hours.”

Other top nominees include Eric Church, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Ashley McBryde and Kacey Musgraves, who each scored three nominations each.  Check out the complete list of nominees for the 2020 ACM Awards below.

Hosted by reigning Entertainer of the Year, Keith Urban, the ACM Awards telecast will air LIVE from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 5 (live 8:00-11:00 PM ET/delayed PT) on CBS. The show will also be available to stream live and on-demand across digital platforms on the CBS All Access subscription service.

Lauren Jo Black, a University of Central Florida graduate, has immersed herself in the world of country music for over 15 years. In 2008, she co-founded CountryMusicIsLove, eventually selling it to a major record label in 2015. Following the rebranding of the website to Sounds Like Nashville, Black served as Editor-in-Chief for two and a half years. Currently, she assumes the role of Editor-in-Chief at Country Now and oversees Country Now’s content and digital footprint. Her extensive experience also encompasses her previous role as a Country Music Expert Writer for Answers.com and her work being featured on Forbes.com. She’s been spotlighted among Country Aircheck’s Women of Influence and received the 2012 Rising Star Award from the University of Central Florida. Black also spent time in front of the camera as host of Country Now Live, which brought live music directly to fans in 2021 when the majority of concerts were halted due to the pandemic. During this time, she hosted 24 weeks of live concerts via Country Now Live on Twitch with special guests such as Lady A, Dierks Bentley, Jordan Davis, Brett Young, and Jon Pardi. Over the course of her career, she has had the privilege of conducting interviews with some of the industry’s most prominent stars, including Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton, Luke Combs, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, and many others. Lauren Jo Black is a longtime member of the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music.
