Cole Swindell and Lainey Wilson’s “Never Say Never” is officially the No.1 song in country music.

“Never Say Never” topped both the Mediabase and Billboard country airplay charts this week after just 23 weeks at country radio.

This marks Swindell’s 11th career No.1 single and Wilson’s second.

The Georgia native took to social media to celebrate the special milestone and to show his gratitude to everyone who helped make the song a huge success.

“Thank you Lainey Wilson for letting me interrupt your vacation with a song I knew could be super special if you were singing on it with me,” Swindell wrote. “Thanks to my ENTIRE team, Country Radio, all the streaming services and the fans for all the love on ‘NSN’ 🙏 Jessi Alexander and Chase McGill y’all are 2 of the best songwriters/humans around and I’m so proud to share this one with y’all! Zach Crowell and all the studio musicians brought this thing to life. Officially the #1 song in the country.”

Released in November of 2021, “Never Say Never” was the most-added song upon its release, giving both Swindell and Wilson the biggest radio add day of their careers so far.

“Never Say Never” is featured on Swindell’s just-released new album, Stereotype

The duet finds Swindell and Wilson grappling over the end of a relationship. They both acknowledge that it’s time to move on, however, they admit that it’s nearly impossible to do so.

“I never say never with you/ I end up together with you/ It’s hell and it’s heaven with you, baby/ Anything’s possible/ The highs are unstoppable/ It’s so uncontrollable, it’s crazy/ We say we won’t and then we do/ You’re all I want, I never say never with you,” Swindell and Wilson sing on the chorus.

“I am so excited to release ‘Never Say Never’,” Swindell shared upon the song’s release. “I wrote ‘Never Say Never’ with Jessi Alexander and Chase McGill in 2018 about a relationship you just can’t stay away from. I have been a fan of Lainey Wilson’s for a while now and what she brings to this song is everything it needed. So glad it’s finally out!”

“’Things a Man Oughta Know’ was such an incredible ride, I can’t wait to get this next song out into the world and see where it leads,” Wilson added at the time. “It makes the journey that much more special that I get to share it with a friend this time around—I’m looking forward to playing it for y’all and I’m sure Cole is too!”

The pair recently performed the song on CMT Music Awards and on The Kelly Clarkson Show
