Country Now Superlatives
Superlatives are one of the most exciting end-of-year traditions for high school students. It’s a time when class members get together to vote for their peers to find out who comes out on top in categories like “most likely to succeed” or “best dressed.” Once results are completed, they’re published in the official yearbook.
While there may not be an official country music yearbook, Country Now was inspired to create a country music-themed list of superlatives. See the results below.
Biggest Dreamer: Luke Combs and Ashley McBryde
Luke Combs and Ashley McBryde have accomplished more in the past two years than some artists accomplish in a lifetime. Both artists went from playing in small-town bars to performing in front of massive crowds. Their music has also been praised by critics and fans alike.
Combs’ incredible success has been continuous since the release of his debut album, which produced multiple, back-to-back No. 1 singles.
McBryde enjoyed a huge career moment earlier this year when she performed her emotional, “Girl Goin’ Nowhere,” at the 2019 ACM Awards. Her debut album of the same name also earned her a nomination at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.
Most Likely To Succeed: Riley Green and Tenille Townes
Both Riley Green and Tenille Townes show a lot of promise when it comes to taking the country music world by storm.
Already making waves in the genre, Green earned his first chart-topping single with “There Was This Girl.” The rising star is currently on the road as a special guest on Brad Paisley’s 2019 World Tour. In October, he’ll join Jon Pardi on the Heartache Medication Tour.
Meanwhile, Townes has already carved a path in country music with her poignant single “Somebody’s Daughter.” She’s currently serving as an opening act for the summer leg of Dierks Bentley’s Burning Man Tour. Later this year, Townes will appear as a special guest on Miranda Lambert’s Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour.
Keep an eye on these two. Trust us.
Best Squad: Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris and Carly Pearce
Country music artists have always been so supportive of one another, but perhaps no group says #squadgoals better than Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris and Carly Pearce. Not only do these ladies break a sweat together with the help of fitness guru Erin Oprea, they also show their love for one another by posting snapshots of their hangout sessions on social media.
Most recently, Pearce and Morris took to Twitter to congratulate Ballerini for earning another No.1 single with “Miss Me More.” Even though they all have songs on the charts, they continue to support each other no matter what. They truly take Morris’ “Girl” lyrics to heart: “I don’t wanna wear your crown, there’s enough to go around.”
Best All-Around: Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban
Is there anything these two can’t do?
Carrie Underwood, a seven-time Grammy award winner, has had a massively successful career since her Season 4 American Idol win. She has dropped a total of six studio albums and released over 20 hit singles. She even established her own athletic clothing line called CALIA by Carrie Underwood. A wife to former professional hockey player Mike Fisher and a mother of two adorable boys, Underwood manages to balance her wildly successful career with her family life. She also has a soft spot for her Oklahoma hometown. In 2009, she created the C.A.T.S. – Checotah Animal, Town, and School Foundation to give back to the community.
It seems there’s no stopping Keith Urban. The current ACM and CMA Entertainer of the Year winner recently dropped his infectious single, “We Were.” Through the years, the superstar has continued to release hit after hit and has managed to remain a staple on charts. Success aside, he’s an all-around good person. He makes a point to support new artists, as well as female country artists, and also gives back in times of need.
Biggest Prankster: Luke Bryan and Wife, Caroline
Luke Bryan’s relationship with his wife, Caroline is super strong, partially because they don’t take themselves too seriously. They know how to have fun, and they’ve proved that time and time again through their many pranks on each other, which they showcase on Instagram. In fact, just last Christmas, the couple celebrated Caroline’s “12 Days of Pranksmas,” where they tried to outdo each other with numerous hilarious stunts over the course of 12 days. If you don’t follow these two on Instagram, you’re missing out (@lukebryan, @linabryan3).
Most Likely To Be Found At The Gym: Lindsay Ell and Walker Hayes
If you’re in need of some extra motivation to hit the gym, look no further than the social media pages of Lindsay Ell and Walker Hayes.
Whether she’s flipping a massive tire or doing some deadlifts, Ell often shares her workout routines on Instagram. She is also very conscious about what she puts into her body and believes in having a balanced healthy diet.
As for Hayes, he has always been pretty candid about his personal difficulties. The now fitness fanatic says he found the gym to be his new escape after previously battling an alcohol addiction.
Best Dressed: Bobby Bones and Karen Fairchild
Fans rarely ever see Bobby Bones looking less than dapper. If he’s ever sporting a casual look, it’s usually a trendy track jacket or a well thought out pair of jeans and T-shirt. The host of The Bobby Bones Show, former Dancing With The Stars champion and American Idol mentor always sports the latest trends and keeps himself well groomed.
Karen Fairchild has always been a trendsetter. The Little Big Town member, who previously launched her own Fair Child clothing line, stuns in designer wear whenever she hits the red carpet. On Instagram, she can also be found rocking her own unique style that features an array of fringe, lace and leopard prints.
Biggest Life of the Party: LOCASH and Abby Anderson
LOCASH, comprised of Chris Lucas and Preston Brust, take the cake at owning the “Biggest Life of the Party” superlative with songs like, “Feels Like a Party” and “I Love This Life.” Fans can always count on them to bring the party at their live shows as well.
Abby Anderson’s personality is as big as her home state of Texas. The rising star, with her infectious laugh and beautiful smile, moved to Nashville when she was just 17-years-old. She landed a record deal and won fans over with songs like “Make Him Wait” and “Good Lord.” Her bubbly personality is showcased through her social media posts and Instagram stories. If you’re ever in need of a smile, look no further than Anderson’s social feed.
Class Clown: Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton
There’s a reason why Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton have co-starred together as judges on The Voice: they both have extremely funny personalities.
Shelton has never been one to hold back his thoughts. If you follow him on Twitter or watch him on The Voice, you are well aware of his hilarious escapades. Whether he’s allowing himself to be the butt of the joke or pointing out the funnies at someone else’s expense, he’s usually good at delivering the punch line.
Clarkson is the woman everyone wants to be friends with. She has a heart of gold and never takes herself too seriously. Her upcoming talk show is sure to be a hit!
Best Hair: Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Wallen
At 25-years-old, Kelsea Ballerini has already made plenty of statements with her trendy hairstyles. From long flowing locks, to chic bobs, to her signature power ponytail, this blonde bombshell can do no wrong when showing off her hairstyle versatility. She certainly keeps her tresses in check!
Morgan Wallen managed to put a modern spin on the vintage mullet, making it trendy once again. It’s become his signature look and he absolutely owns it.
Biggest Flirt: Kip Moore and Lauren Alaina
Lauren Alaina and Kip Moore were the first artists who came to mind when we were searching for the Biggest Flirt.
Alaina, known for her sweet and spunky attitude, gets up close and personal with her fans whenever she hits the stage. In fact, at each one of her concerts, she pulls an unsuspecting male audience member on the stage and dances with him during her catchy “Next Boyfriend” song. She may be a flirt, but it’s all in good fun because she’s in a relationship with comedian John Crist.
Moore, with his deep, husky voice, is one of country music’s hottest bachelors. All he has to do is flash his smile and ladies become weak in the knees.
Most Likely To Live Happily Ever After: Carly Pearce and Michael Ray
There are many high profile romances in country music, but perhaps Michael Ray and Carly Pearce have a love for the ages. The adorable couple, who happens to share the same passion for country music, fell hard upon meeting each other and announced their relationship last summer. They got engaged the following December and have been going strong ever since. They are expected to wed later this year.
Best Bromance: Tyler Hubbard and Russell Dickerson
Aside from being close pals with his duet partner, Brian Kelly, FGL’s Tyler Hubbard goes way back with good pal, Russell Dickerson. Fun fact: the artists even went to the same Belmont University and wrote songs together before climbing the ranks in country music. To this day, they stick with the same circle of buddies, which also includes Thomas Rhett. They also share loads of photos on social media featuring their get-togethers, even on holidays.
Best Tweeter: Maren Morris and Brothers Osborne
Maren Morris holds nothing back when it comes to sharing her opinions with her more than 641,000 followers. She has always been very open and honest with her fans and even claps back if any Internet trolls try to mess with her. On top of that, she’s funny as hell. Whenever she has free time, she always responds to her fans, and sometimes even does last minute Q&A sessions with her followers. Follow her HERE.
John and T.J. Osborne of Brothers Osborne also keep an active presence online. In addition to sharing music updates with their 159,000 Twitter followers, the brothers often share personal photos with fans via their Twitter feed. They also display their wicked sense of humor and can keep fans laughing all day long. Follow Brothers Osborne HERE.
Biggest Heart: Dolly Parton and Kenny Chesney
Dolly Parton and Kenny Chesney are both from East Tennessee and they both have proved time and time again that they have hearts of gold.
As the founder of the Imagination Library, a non-profit program that gives children ages 5 or younger access to a free book each month, Parton has gifted more than 100 million free books to children around the world since 1995. The country icon has also donated millions of dollars to help fund various charities, including her very own My People Fund, which was created to help those affected by the devastating wildfires that took place in East Tennessee in 2016.
Chesney, meanwhile, has supported his fair share of charities and foundations throughout his career, including his own hurricane relief organization, Love for Love City. The program was established in 2017 after Hurrican Irma ripped through the Carribean Islands. Just weeks later, Hurricane Maria followed and left even more devastation. The eight-time Entertainer of the Year quietly came to the rescue, sending food, supplies, generators and more to help with relief efforts. He and his team also rescued over 100 dogs from the Virgin Islands and brought them back to the U.S. to find forever homes.
