With record-breaking temperatures and snowfall sweeping the state of Tennessee, many country stars have been embracing this winter wonderland in all its glory, however, Darryl Worley had a much more somber experience when he and his family suffered a devastating barn fire on Tuesday (January 16).
Rather than posting some silly snow day photos on social media, the country hitmaker took to Instagram to share a video of the incident with his 39.5k followers, which he and his wife recorded while in a vehicle a few feet away from the flame.
“Well, me and Kimberly are sitting here watching the barn go up in flames. I guess it’s true, that’s what happens in the cold a lot of times.” It’s just sad. We had a lot of stuff in there. A lot of memories, and it’s all falling in now,” the “I Miss My Friend” singer shared while staring at what was left of the Savannah, Tennessee property.
To accompany the video, Worley’s management team asked fans to show their support in the caption. “As a management team, we are asking that you be in prayer for Darryl, @theworleygirl and Savannah today as their barn caught on fire this morning. They are dealing with the loss of property and more importantly the loss of life long memories! We believe all the animals escaped and are okay! Thank you,” the management team wrote, ultimately garnering condolences from country superstars like John Michael Montgomery, Hannah Dasher, Canaan Smith, and more in the comment section.
24 hours later, Darryl Worley made his return to social media to share a statement regarding the gut-wrenching situation. “I don’t think I will get this sight out of my mind for a long time,” the 59-year-old prefaced, prior delving into the details.
He continued passionately, “I’ve seen other people go through things like this and I truly hurt for them. You just don’t really know and understand until it happens to you. It’s the worst feeling! In that moment that Kimberly captured, I was overwhelmed with the feelings of helplessness, sadness, confusion, and grief! There were so many things in that barn that meant so much to us and so many great memories, but I woke up this morning feeling thankful for all the love and support from so many, for the fact that all our animals escaped, for my family being safe, and for God’s love and protection!”
The “Have You Forgotten?” singer concluded the caption by asking both his fans and his friends to keep his family in their prayers, thanking those who have been showing their support thus far.
Given that all of the animals escaped from the barn before the fire became too severe, the Tennessee native also ensured that they will rebuild their barn “and move on with God’s help” as soon as they are able to.
