Lady Antebellum’s Dave Haywood and his wife Kelli Cashiola reimagined Phil Vassar’s “Just Another Day in Paradise” to say what parents are experiencing during quarantine and the result is pure genius.
The couple shared their song, “Just Another Day In Quarantine,” and the hilarious music video to go with it on Instagram Monday evening (April 20).
The homemade clip features the couple and their children, Cash and Lillie, experiencing the ups and downs of quarantine life. From homeschooling, to running out of household essentials, to excess eating, to Zoom dates with no pants, the lighthearted song captures what millions are going through during these times of uncertainty.
“It’s a new day, the same thing/ Just another day in quarantine/ Well, there’s lots of places I’d rather be/ Parent time overdue happy hour now starts at two, but there ain’t enough whiskey/ For just another day in quarantine,” they sing on the chorus.
The song goes on to detail the guilt (or lack thereof) of too much screen time for the children and the reality that quarantine may not be ending anytime soon.
“Mommy had a bad dream/ She can’t go nowhere/ Can’t do nothing/ Oh wait, that’s reality,” they sing.
Haywood’s bandmates got a kick out of the song. Charles Kelley called it “gold” while Hillary Scott deemed it “incredible.”
