Singer/songwriter Drake White is coming back stronger than ever with the release of his upcoming album, The Optimystic, out March 11th.
The new record is extremely personal for White and what he refers to as “the action of keeping that glass half full and finding faith, hope and joy in the circus of this thing we call life.”
Back in August of 2019, White collapsed from a stroke – while on stage – and was told by doctors that he may never get to perform again. Remaining optimistic, he decided to draw inspiration from this traumatic experience and inspire others.
“It’s been five years since my last album,” White shared. “I’ve had two record deals, six brain surgeries, a hemorrhagic stroke and a pandemic that has tried to rip us all apart. Through it all, I’ve always fought to keep my glass half full.”

The Alabama native did everything in his power and worked extra hard to prove the doctors wrong and come out stronger on the other side. After enduring multiple surgeries and months of physiotherapy, White beat the odds and returned to the road and making music.
The result is The Optimystic, a 14-track release that includes songs co-written by White alongside hit songwriters such as Chris DeStefano, Randy Montana and Eric Paslay.
The title track, “Optimystic,” written by White, Lauren Weintraub, and Kelli Johnson, is available for a first-listen upon pre-order/pre-save of the album.
Vulnerability, inspiration, honesty, faith, and resilience are just a few values that shine on the upcoming release. The last track, “Amazing Grace” is especially sentimental to White, as it is sung by his grandfather’s church community, with his father and grandmother leading the choir.
