After announcing the release date for his upcoming sophomore album, Livin’ My Best Life, Dylan Scott has chosen to give Country Now readers the first look at the cover shoot for the upcoming project in this brand new exclusive premiere.

This behind-the-scenes footage from the one-day album cover shoot finds the singer/songwriter and father of two going back to his hometown for inspiration and focusing on the places that define his youth. Rocking everyday apparel from T-shirts and Henleys to slacks and jeans, he casually poses in front of various buildings and businesses in Monroe, Louisiana. Those locations bring a sense of nostalgia to Scott as they remind him of the experiences he had before moving to Nashville.

“I drove by those places my whole life. I’ve seen them my whole life,” Scott tells Country Now, giving insight into his backstory. “So to capture a moment like that in photos that have made the album cover, and some press shots we’re using and stuff like that, is pretty cool for me, from my standpoint, to see in the background and go, ‘Wow, I’ve driven by those my whole life, and now, here they are living in a picture that is out there for the world to see.’”

Also captured is a cabin that Scott says takes him back to some unforgettable moments he shared with good friends. Even today, the wooded space plays a significant role in Scott’s country music career as it currently serves as one of his go-to places to write songs.

“I spent a lot of time there with some buddies and bringing writers down there, and we’ve written some songs in that cabin that made the album,” Scott said of the space that initially sparked the idea for his cover shoot. “It’s just one of those spots where I felt I’ve definitely been living my best life growing up. So, the magic was there! It was right in the evening time. The sun was going down, and it was coming through just perfectly. It was like, ‘Wow! I think this is it!’”

Already, fans have been able to hear cuts from Scott’s highly anticipated 16-track collection, including his second No. 1 hit, “Nobody,” viral TikTok hit, “Can’t Have Mine (Find You A Girl),” current radio single, “New Truck,” recently released “Static,” and the album’s uptempo title track – all of which speak to Scott’s roots.

“There’s another song on this album called, ‘Good Times Go By Too Fast,’ and, I mean, it’s definitely about where I’m from and how the good times went by too fast. Then, ‘Livin’ My Best Life’ is also about me growing up and living our best life down in Louisiana,” Scott explains of the tracks on the forthcoming LP. “So, there’s a lot of songs that represent where I’m from and how I grew up.”

“There’s a song coming out here in a couple of months called, ‘In Our Blood,’ and it features Jimmie Allen. It’s one of my favorites on the album. It’s one of those songs that I think is going to speak to people. I love those songs. It’s what country music is about. It’s about telling a story, speaking to people, and making them feel a certain way,” he continues. “There’s another song on the album called, ‘Lay Down With You.’ It’s probably one of my favorites because it goes back to my country roots and the older country music that I grew up listening to. It ties into all of that and my marriage and everything like that. So, I’m pretty pumped about that song as well.”

Fans, of course, will have to wait a little bit longer to get their hands on some of those tracks. For now, Scott is enjoying the moment as his current Top 30 single “New Truck” continues to climb up the country charts. The latest success follows a whirlwind 2021, which saw him opening shows on Luke Bryan’s Proud To Be Right Here Tour and winning his first-ever CMT Award for his second career chart-topping single, “Nobody.”

“I reflect on it for sure. Having an award and winning Video of the Year for ‘Nobody,’ and being out on tour with Luke Bryan as direct support. I mean, it’s crazy. It’s been a crazy year,” Scott says. “I take a little bit more confidence going into this year. I’m going like, ‘Alright. I think we’re supposed to be here.’ It feels good, and I think I’ve got a place. So, I take that into this year, and so far, it’s been, you know, a lot of sold-out shows so far, and crowds have been great, and I think we’re going to have a good 2022 with all of this new music coming out. I feel really good about it. So, I’m excited.”

Dylan Scott is currently on the road as part of his headlining Livin’ My Best Life Tour. The 22-city trek, which features direct support from Dylan Marlowe, runs through April 29. Livin’ My Best Life, which follows 2019’s Nothing to Do Town EP, arrives on Aug.5, 2022 via Curb Records. The album is available to pre-order now.
