Elle King releases her new single, “Baby Daddy’s Weekend”
Elle King is signaling a fun-filled, child-free weekend in her newest summertime anthem, “Baby Daddy’s Weekend.”
The multi-genre chart-topping artist has made it clear that she’s not afraid to speak her mind or be her most authentic self and in this new track, she does just that with an extra dose of sass. Her reign of irresistible hooks continues as she focuses on the rowdy weekend that’s about to unfold when the child is left in the care of their father.
“I’ve been lucky enough to have lived, loved, and partied with the best of them,” said King. “I’ve written songs for every era of my good times. My new song is for the people who deserve a good summer. It’s for people who need a break from their kids but miss them when they aren’t around. It’s for the people working two jobs, the people who never get to put themselves first! It’s a song for all the people who make this world go round. Life isn’t always fun and games, but when it is, it’s my ‘Baby Daddy’s Weekend.’”
King Encourages Parents To Let Their Wild Side Out For A Weekend
King serves as a co-writer alongside her friend Pillbox Patti as well as a co-producer with Dave Cohen. “Baby Daddy’s Weekend” is the country star’s opportunity to let her self-confidence and swagger to lead the way in an effort to speak up for all the parents out there who deserve to have some time to themselves. She gives this audience permission to raise their cups, turn up the radio, and let their wild sides out for a few days.
“It’s my baby daddy’s weekend/ I ain’t leavin’/ Is we drunk yet (NO)/ It ain’t even/ Sunset, summertime season/ Drinkin’, don’t need a reason/ My songs on the radio/ Turn it up, raise a cup/ You think you feel it but Not yet,” she sings with her gritty vocals and electric instrumentals.
King continues, “My swag, you think it’s stolen/ Why you mad, I wrote it/ My songs on the radio/ Turn it up, raise a cup/ You think you feel it but/ It ain’t even hit yet/ It ain’t even hit yet/ It ain’t even hit yet/ My songs on the radio/ Turn it up, raise a cup/ You think you feel it but/ It ain’t even hit yet/ It’s my baby daddy’s weekend.”
Elle King Is Living Life As A “Single Mom”
This song mirrors aspects of King’s personal life as she is a mom to her two-year-old son, Lucky Levi, whom she raises with Daniel Tooker. In a recent social media post, King dubbed herself a “single mom” who is “in my me myself n I era.”
“Baby Daddy’s Weekend” follows the release of King’s third studio album, Come Get Your Wife, which dropped in January of 2023. This project landed in the Top 10 on the Billboard Album Sales Chart and featured fan-favorites like “Try Jesus,” “Worth A Shot” featuring Dierks Bentley, the No. 1 smash hit “Drunk (And I Don’t Want To Go Home)” with Miranda Lambert and more.
