Since her breakthrough success on American Idol, fans have eagerly awaited the release of Laci Kaye Booth‘s debut album. Their patience will be rewarded on May 17th, as the Texas-born artist unveils The Loneliest Girl In The World.
Years in the making, the 15-track album marks her full-length debut and represents her first-ever project with Geffen Records.
“This album has been two years in the making, but has taken a whole life of heartache, loneliness, failure, and big dreaming to create. I’m so happy to finally share what is truly a piece of my heart with the world,” Booth shared.
To celebrate the album announcement, Booth debuted the title track, which portrays the story of a woman who appears to lonely, as per the expectations of society, when in fact, she enjoys her independence and unconventional lifestyle. As she sits back and watches her friends get married and have babies, she finds herself comfortable with the life she’s living – one where “her left hand don’t need no diamond.”
“She falls asleep with the TV on/ And she sips sav blanc ‘til the bottle’s gone No it ain’t all that but it ain’t half bad/ Got a dirty mouth and a mind to match yeah She coulda made it to the altar/ But she ain’t the type of bitch you can alter/ I guess that’s me/ The loneliest girl in the world,” Booth sings with her dreamy vocals.
Booth opened this next musical chapter with the release of “Cigarettes” last winter. That track has gone on to garner over 1.3 million streams on Spotify and played a pivotal role in this project.
The singer/songwriter opened up about “Cigarettes” upon its release and explained that it has a deep, personal meaning to her.
“This song tells the story of where I’ve been, who I was, and how I’ve become who I’ve become. It’s a true-life story, not a highlight reel, with ‘Cigarettes’ having multiple meanings throughout the song,” she shared at the time. “I wrote this song at one of the lowest points of my career and life, with my dear friend and producer, Ben West. It has sorrow, shame, grit, and hope written all within it and I hope the message that’s received from this is to learn from the hard sh*t, learn to let it go, and let it make you better.”
Since then, Laci Kaye Booth has released the tracks “True Love” and “Sometimes,” offering fans a glimpse of what’s to come on the full project.
Confirmed to perform at various festivals this summer, including CMA Fest, Booth will likely bring her new music on the road.
