Eric Church is gearing up to release a new single and album and it could possibly be the biggest and best project of his career.
The superstar teased what’s to come with his fan club, the Church Choir, over the weekend, telling fans a new single is on the way soon and that an album will follow.
“A new single is about to hit country radio and it’s going to be the tip of the spear for what’s coming after and it’s a BIG spear,” Church teased. “I believe it’s the best we’ve ever been in our career. Don’t have a reason for that, creativity took over. I’m as proud of this music, that’ll involve different forms, that I’ve ever been.”
The North Carolina native went on to share that he misses live shows and told his fans that he can’t wait until the moment they can be together again.
“I cannot wait until we can all get together and I can play it. And you can sing it, and we can have that camaraderie, we can have that communion… because I miss that, and I think everybody misses that. It’s coming and when it gets here, it’s gonna be a sonofabitch,” he promised.
Earlier this year, Church opened up about his new music, revealing that he wrote and recorded 28 songs in 28 days for his next project.
“I’d write a song in the morning, we’d cut it that night,” he explained. “We removed all the barriers. Chase that as hard as you can [and] move on. For me, it’s as far out there as I have gotten.”
Though he admits it was “kind of like The Shining,” he believes the end result was worth it.
“Looking back at what came out of it, everyone needed to be uncomfortable,” he acknowledged. “The writers had no clue what they were in for. All that is what made it great.”
Since then, Eric Church has teased a few new songs, including “Never Break Heart,” which he performed on the ACM special earlier this spring, and “Through My Ray Bans,” a nod to his loyal fanbase. At this time, it’s not clear which tracks will be included on his upcoming album.
