Rising country artist Shy Carter continues to spread positivity and good vibes with new music. His brand new song, “Boom in the Boondocks,” and it’s official video is out today Friday, (April 30), and Country Now has the exclusive premiere.
A fun and universal party anthem, “Boom in the Boondocks,” invites people everywhere to come together to enjoy the present moment and the simple things in life. Produced by David Garcia and written with Tommy Cecil and Craig Wiseman, the bass-heavy pop/country song has Carter toggling between speaking and singing and features banjo and guitar over an intoxicating drum loop.
Bringing the song lyrics to life, the accompanying video for “Boom in the Boondocks” showcases a scene of partygoers having a good time while out in the sticks and away from city life. Carter, who dons a camouflage hat and a flannel shirt, unveils the lyrics from the front doors of an empty barn and the bed of his truck. Throughout the tune, he can be heard name-dropping artists like Dolly Parton, Hank Williams, and Merle Haggard while people dance alongside him beneath a sky full of fireworks.
“Chicken in a bread pan pickin’ out dough / Fifty in da club to Do-si-do / Yea, we’re clean and we’re green and we’re growin’ it tall / Livin’ high, high with alcohol,” Carter delivers the verse showing off his hip hop flair before going into a sing-along chorus. “Put some boom in the boondocks / Take it easy where you’re steppin’ in your Yeezys, girl …. / Put some boom in the boondocks / Boom boom boom boom boondocks, yeah.”
“‘Boom in the Boondocks’ was so much fun to write! I was so blessed to work with some of the most amazing writers ever – Craig Wiseman and Tommy Cecil.” Carter, who has written hits for country artists like Kane Brown, Keith Urban, and Sugarland, told Country Now of the inspiration behind the track. “We just sat down and started coming up with the most fun, most unique country party lines that we could. With this song, we wanted to get out of the city, throw a big party and invite people who aren’t used to that kind of environment. Come on out and party with us anytime!”
“Boom in the Boondocks” follows the singer/songwriter and Warner Music Nashville artist’s current radio single, “Good Love,” which he wrote alongside, James Slater, Micah Carter, and Carlo Colasacco.
