Multi-platinum star Gabby Barrett dropped her new album, Chapter & Verse, today (Feb. 2), and among the new tracks is the highly anticipated “Dance Like No One’s Watching,” which features vocals from country superstar Luke Combs.

Barrett got an incredibly positive response from fans on the nostalgia-laced tune when she first shared a teaser on Instagram last year. Since then, listeners have eagerly been awaiting its official release.

Combs co-penned “Dance Like No One’s Watching,” with Emily Weisband and James McNair and then passed it on to Barrett, deeming her the rightful artist to convey the sentimental narrative about a father’s love and the advice he passes down to his child. Combs also lent his vocals in the background, adding a bit of extra warmth and sincerity to the song.

“Daddy, dance like no one’s watchin’ whatever you do/ And if life gives you love, then fall in, but always be you/ Oh, I know it’s a big world an it’s so easy to get lost in/ So, dance like no one’s watchin’,” the pair of country stars sing on the chorus in seamless harmony.

The mother of two (with another on the way), makes the song her own as she connects the poignant pedal steel tones, compassionate guitar plucks and wisdom-filled lyrics to her upbringing as a “daddy’s girl.”

“I grew up being a daddy’s girl, and now I get to watch my husband and daughter have that father-daughter bond,” says Barrett of the new song. “That’s just irreplaceable.”

Barrett Co-Wrote 9 Of The 14 Tracks

Barrett took a hands-on approach to the making of this album as she serves as a co-producer for the very first time alongside GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter-producer Ross Copperman. She is also responsible for co-writing nine of the 14 songs alongside talented songwriters like Miranda Lambert. Mainly recorded at Nashville’s iconic Blackbird Studio, Chapter & Verse was elevated with the help of a lineup of cosmic musicians who brought the album’s soulful and traditional country sound to life.

The title of the project acts as a nod to the chapters and verses within each book of the Bible. Barrett covers everything from feel-good anthems to moving piano ballads, and tender love songs, which are bookended by the songs that make up the full title.

The Warner Music Nashville multi-platinum star has offered a preview of her autobiographical project through advanced releases of songs like “Cowboy Back,” “Growin’ Up Raising You,” “You’re My Texas,” and “Glory Days,” her current single that celebrates the simplicity of life and has resonated deeply with fans. The single is currently sitting in the Top 20-and-climbing at Country radio, marking her second time in the coveted most-added position with 77 first-week stations (the most first-week adds for a female artist in the genre in 14 months).
