Gabby Barrett returned to the stage on Monday (April 11) night for the 2022 CMT Music Awards. Dazzling the studio audience midway through the three-hour telecast, she performed her latest single, “Pick Me Up,” for the first time ever on television.
Donning a sparkly pantsuit in all-black, the country superstar and mom of 1-year-old daughter Baylah Mae, belted out the lyrics to the song, which she wrote alongside Ross Copperman and Jon Nite. She was also raised up by a platform that appeared in the center of the stage.
This is the first time that Barrett has performed “Pick Me Up” in front of a live TV audience, and the track appears on the deluxe edition of her debut album, Goldmine.
“The CMT Music Awards are just such a fun show to be a part of, and I’m so honored to be performing,” Barrett told Entertainment Tonight ahead of the show. “This show is all about the fans, and I’m so grateful to all of you who have supported me and my music along the way!”
Heading into the fan-voted awards show, Barrett was nominated for a Female Video of the Year for “Footprints On The Moon.” She was in the running for the category alongside fellow female heavy hitters, Miranda Lambert, Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris, Mickey Guyton, Tenille Arts and Kacey Musgraves. Lambert ended up winning the prize. Barrett also presented the award for Group/Duo Video of the Year.
Walker Hayes, Cody Johnson, Lambert, Little Big Town, Old Dominion, and Carly Pearce were also on the bill to take the stage for Country Music’s Biggest Party with emerging artists Priscilla Block, BRELAND, James Decker, Parker McCollum, Elvie Shane and Smith performing from the Ram Trucks Side Stage.
Collaborations throughout the evening included duets by Jason Aldean and Bryan Adams, Jimmie Allen with Monica and Little Big Town, Guyton and Black Pumas, Thomas Rhett and Riley Green, and Cole Swindell and Lainey Wilson. The Judds also joined forces for their first televised performance in over two decades.
The 2022 CMT Music Awards, hosted by Kelsea Ballerini, Kane Brown, and Anthony Mackie, aired live on Monday (April 11) on CBS at 8:00 p.m. ET. The show was also available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.
