Reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Garth Brooks is celebrating a new career milestone this week, becoming the first artist to ever achieve Top Fives singles at country radio (Billboard and Mediabase charts) over five consecutive decades.

With his current single, “Dive Bar,” featuring Blake Shelton, reaching No.5 on the Mediabase charts this week, Brooks has now charting songs in the Top Five in the 80’s, 90’s, 00’s, 10’s and 20’s.

The seven-time CMA Entertainer of the Year first topped Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart with “If Tomorrow Never Comes” in 1989 and has now reached the Top Five every decade since.

The news comes on the heels of the announcement that Brooks will receive the coveted Icon Award at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards. Brooks, a 19-time Billboard Music Award winner, is one of only nine artists to ever receive the prestigious award, following Cher, Neil Diamond, Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey. He will also take the stage to perform during the star-studded telecast, which will take place in Las Vegas on April 29.

Garth Brooks remains the best-selling artist in U.S. history, with over 156 million albums sold. He is the only artist in history to have eight albums certified diamond, each one selling more than 10 million copies.
