It appears Garth Brooks passed along the musical gene to his youngest daughter, Allie Colleen.
The Belmont graduate and newlywed just released her debut single and it’s pure country gold.
“Work In Progress,” which she co-wrote with Marcus Hummon and Greg Beick, is an introspective ballad about accepting yourself for who you are.
“I’m the best I’ve ever been/ But not the best I’ll ever be/ I have faith in the things I can’t see/ On this journey to me,” she sings throughout the chorus.
The inspirational tune is country at its core and puts Allie’s rich vocals on full display.
The release of Allie’s debut single was a long time coming. The rising singer/songwriter promised her father she would graduate college before pursuing her music career, so that’s exactly what she did.
Although she’s the daughter of one of country music’s biggest stars, Allie hopes to carve her own path rather than ride her father’s wave of fame.
“I am doing this because quite honestly, because even though I wouldn’t choose a different career, I don’t feel like I have a choice to do anything other than music,’’ the singer told Cleveland.com late last year.
“There’s just something about music,’’ she added. “As a girl who struggles with confidence, it’s the only thing I know I’m good at.’’
Fans can stream Allie Colleen’s song “Work In Progress” at various digital retailers now.
