If the name George Birge doesn’t ring a bell right away, chances are his smash hit, “Mind On You,” will jog your memory.

Combining some classic country twang with sexy electro energy, “Mind On You” hit all music streaming platforms in November of 2021, serving as the title track to his debut album, which arrived six months later. Hitting country radio shortly after its release and climbing the charts day after day, “Mind On You” has ultimately solidified Birge as a force to be reckoned with within the country music industry.

The country crooner gushed about the successful track in an exclusive interview with Country Now, as well as his brand-new duet with RaeLynn titled “Whiskey Go Round” which has quickly become a fan-favorite upon its release.

Building Momentum With “Mind On You”

Starting out by detailing the journey of sending “Mind On You” to radio, the former Waterloo Revival member explained, “The first single to go for any new artist is definitely a journey, and so we kind of started out doing a radio tour and going and visiting all these stations across America and kind of familiarizing people with who I am and this iteration of my music. It was pretty instant that we saw the song was clicking and people were excited when they heard it, and that they could hear something fresh and new and something they felt like they had an opportunity to play on their radio stations.”

Reaching Radio Stations Across The Country

Since sending the catchy tune to radio, “Mind On You” has garnered attention from fans far and wide: “Some of these radio stations are starting to have success with call outs from listeners and people connecting with the song, and you know, I think as more momentum built up, more and more folks started putting it on their stations… As of last week, every radio station in America is playing ‘Mind On You,’ which is a pretty surreal feeling for an artist working on his first hit.”

He continued, “That was something that I did allow myself just to celebrate a little bit, because it was such a hard road to kind of get this thing off the ground and to have that many people believing in it and connecting with the song…I just took a moment and took a breath and it’s like, ‘Man, this is pretty special,’ and still, you know, every time anybody sends me a video, hearing it in the car or at work or wherever, it doesn’t get old. It’s just so cool to have people connecting with a song the way that they are,” the Texas native concludes with a beaming smile.

“Whiskey Go Round”

While “Mind On You” is the track that launched George Birge into stardom, his just-released duet with RaeLynn titled “Whiskey Go Round” is sure to be one that reinforces him as an emerging artist for fans to keep on their radar.

Hitting all music streaming platforms on October 13, the new song “is about people that are on again, off again, and you know, there’s some hurt there, but there’s also some chemistry and some romance and just real life happening,” serving as a much heavier track than “Mind On You.”

“I wrote that song a few months back with some great friends, Casey Brown, Parker Welling and Jennifer Hart, and I left the room just knowing, ‘Man, this is something that I am crazy about. Like, do I think we did something very special today?’ and I knew it was a duet, but I didn’t really know who to ask,” the star-in-the-making prefaced, before diving into how he landed on RaeLynn as his duet partner.

Finding The Perfect Female Voice

He continued, “I actually spent a couple of months sitting on it, just brainstorming. I’m like, ‘Who would the perfect fit be?’ because it’s a song with some weight on it… I wanted somebody on the song that had lived, somebody that had some life experience and somebody that could kind of deliver the weight of the vocal.”

“When RaeLynn’s name came up, I knew that that was the fit. That was a no-brainer, and I ended up texting her the song, which is always kind of a vulnerable thing to do, sending a song to somebody else and asking them if they want to be a part of it, but she hit me back almost immediately and was over the moon about the song…She ended up putting her vocal on it, and I knew it was going to be great. She’s such a talented artist and vocalist, but I don’t think I could have prepared myself for how well our voices blended and just how amazing she sounded on the song. As soon as I got it back, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is another level,’ and I cannot wait for everyone else to hear it,” the talented singer-songwriter concluded passionately.

Longtime Friends And Fellow Texas Natives

Not only do the voices of the two artists blend perfectly on “Whiskey Go Round,” but George Birge and RaeLynn have a great relationship outside of the studio as well, making the track even more special.

“RaeLynn and I have been friends for a long time. We’re both from Texas, so we had a lot in common, and you know, we both got young kids and started our families in Nashville, and we came to town around the same time,” the country troubadour dished. “We had played some shows together and had mutual friends and had a mutual respect for each other. I’d always just loved the way that she handled herself and I love her talent vocally and just the way that she treats other people. She’s always so kind and funny, and she has an infectious personality.”

“When you’re going to put your name on a song with somebody else, you want to make sure that it’s somebody that you really want to root for and somebody that you really want to be a part of a project, and she checked all those boxes. So it’s been so fun for me,” he continued.

The budding country star concluded with a smile on his face, “Her and my wife have become great friends, which makes it even that much more special too.”

More New Music On The Way

George Birge fans will be happy to know that “Whiskey Go Round” is just a taste of a yet-to-be-announced full-length project that the rising country star teased is already in the works.

“I have two more that I’ve recorded already, and then the next few months are just going to be me writing and recording in hopes to have a project, you know, in the first half of next year. So definitely more music coming out, especially because I just feel like I’m finally finding my lane as an artist. I’m finding my voice. I know what I want to say. I know who I am, and that’s the most empowering thing in the world as an artist is to have confidence in what you’re doing and who you are. For me, that just makes me want to get in the studio and make more and more and more music,” he shared confidently.

“If I have anything to say about it, it’ll be sooner rather than later,” Birge teased with a big grin.

While Country music lovers await George Birge’s full-length project, they can listen to “Mind On You” and “Whiskey Go Round” on all music streaming platforms.

Birge also recently announced that he will be kicking off 2024 as an opening act on Parker McCollum’s Burn It Down Tour. This trek opens in Spokane, WA on January 18 and runs through August 31, where McCollum will wrap things up in his home state, Corpus Christi, TX.
