George Strait announces he will be heading to College Station, Texas on June 15 for his one and only show in his home state this year.

Fans Have Been Begging For Strait To Make A Stop In Texas

The country music icon previously revealed that he would once again be teaming up with eight-time GRAMMY winner, Chris Stapleton to perform one-off stadium dates throughout 2024. While the pair are set to make stops at major stadiums around the country like New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, Chicago’s Soldier Field, Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium and more, fans were quick to notice that there was not a show scheduled for the Lone Star State.

Strait has recently been teasing that some major news was coming in regards to him leaving out this major market. Then on Tuesday (Mar. 19), fans finally realized that a bigger set of plans were in place the whole time.

Parker McCollum and Catie Offerman Will Serve As Support

On June 15, George Strait will return to his home state to deliver the first-ever concert at Texas A&M’s Kyle Field. He will be joined by fellow Texans Parker McCollum and Catie Offerman.

Offerman has always been vocal about the fact that the King of country music is one of her musical heroes. Back in November, she got to fulfil a major dream when she was tapped to be the sole opener for Strait on two back-to-back sold-out dates at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, TX.

McCollum, who also credits Strait for being an influential figure throughout his life and music career, took to social media a day before the news dropped to share an acoustic cover of 2008’s “Troubadour” as a strong hint to what was coming. On top of getting to open for Strait on his birthday, this upcoming show will also mark one of McCollum’s biggest shows to date.

McCollum Shares What He’s Most Looking Forward To

While reflecting on this opportunity with Country Now and other outlets, the dad to be shared that the best part of it all will be getting to share the special moment with his family.

“I think every country singer at some point or another looks at him as, ‘that’s what I want to do’… I mean, how could you not? He’s George Strait. My favorite part about all of it, the thing that really makes me the most excited to do it is that I know my family, my parents, my siblings, are like, ‘wow.’ They saw me when I graduated high school, didn’t go to college, moved to Austin 10 days after I graduated. I wanted to be a country singer. What are you telling your 19-year-old kid when he does that? You’re like, ‘good luck with that. That’s never going to happen.’ I mean, they believed in me. They didn’t say that to my face, but now that I’m older, in my head, I know what they were thinking. And so to get to do something like that, I think that’s my favorite part, to see how proud they are that I was able to have just a little bit of success doing it.”
