HARDY Delivers Unfiltered Truth In New Spoken Word Track, ‘QUIT!!,’ Announces 2024 Tour

HARDY was inspired to write the song after someone wrote the word “quit” on a napkin and put it in his tip jar early in his career.

HARDY holds nothing back his just-released song, “QUIT!!,” a spoken word track that details his journey to success and the drive to never back down that led him here.

What Is HARDY’s New Song About?

Penned by the genre-bending hitmaker with Jacob Durrett, the autobiographical tune was inspired by a story he told at the 2022 ACM Honors after accepting his first-ever ACM Songwriter of the Year award. A clip of this speech was included on the accompanying visualizer, which finds him recounting the moment back in the early days of his career when a person wrote the word “quit” on a napkin and put it in his tip jar of the gig he was playing that night. Instead of letting that word tear him down nearly 10 years ago, he has used it as motivation throughout the rise of his career.

Now he’s speaking his truth in the autobiographical track, opening with a reference to this experience that happened a decade ago.

“Somebody wrote quit on a napkin I took it out of my tip jar laughing Like damn what a asshole, man/ I’m just a flat broke boy with a guitar asking/ For anybody to pay attention/ It’s not like anybody paid admission/ I was just wishin’/ Somebody would listen/ Give me a shot and I ain’t talkin’ bout Canadian Mist then,” he delivers on the opening verse.

HARDY also pays homage to some of the people who helped build his career from the ground up, like Florida Georgia Line who “put me on the map” and Morgan Wallen who “put me on the track.”

He continued, “Fu*ked around and penned a couple hits / Chucked ‘em out to see if they’d react/ Talked about the way of life I live/ All the things the country life will give/ It’s like I never left my neighborhood/ But I burned out of it and I turned out good.”

By the end, he urges listeners to “get to know a guy” before they “choose hate” because there’s no telling how far they’ll go. HARDY is living proof that if you want something bad enough, you can make it happen with some hard work and end up with “a stack of awards on a napkin.”

Adding “QUIT!!” to his catalog further shows that he will continue to push the boundaries on his genre-less catalog that draws fans in like no other. In a way, HARDY has that person who wrote that hateful word on a napkin to thank because without it, he might not have pushed himself to get to where he is today as an award-winning singer/songwriter.

“Thank you for inspiring me to be great,” HARDY says. “I guess sometimes holding a grudge is a good thing.”
