Trace Adkins may be known for his hits, but offstage he’s found a love story just as unforgettable as his career, one that started on a movie set with Canadian actress Victoria Pratt and grew into a lasting partnership.

In 2013, the couple met while working on the film The Virginian. Sparks flew instantly, and their immediate connection blossomed into a relationship. Six years later, in October 2019, they celebrated their love with a wedding in New Orleans, officiated by fellow country star Blake Shelton.

This marks Adkins’ fourth marriage. He was previously wed to Barbara Lewis, with whom he welcomed two daughters, Tarah and Sarah, followed by Julie Lauren Curtis from 1991 to 1994, and Rhonda Forlaw from 1997 to 2015. He and Forlaw share three daguthers, Mackenzie, Brianna and Trinity.

He and Pratt recently celebrated their sixth anniversary, and Pratt shared a sweet Instagram post documenting their day of travel together and noting that while it wasn’t an extravagant way to celebrate, they were happy just being in each other’s company.

She wrote, “6 amazing years with my handsome cowboy. Our anniversary falls on a travel day, after a long 2 week west coast run. And as nice as a fancy restaurant might be, we’re all restauranted out! Looking forward to a night at home, cuddling up with a football game. ❤️”

Over the years, they have supported each other through their respective careers. Pratt has appeared in numerous movies and television shows, including Heartland, Xena: Warrior Princess, Mutant X, and Cleopatra 2525. Plus, in addition to their time on The Virginian, they have even worked together in the series, Among Wolves.

Their deep connection has inspired several of Adkins’ songs throughout his career, including a heartfelt track on his 25th-anniversary album, The Way I Wanna Go, which highlights how, despite their differences, they are a perfect match.

“I can’t take all the credit. She’s my muse,” Adkins previously told PEOPLE.

Their love story isn’t just written in songs, it’s lived every day and celebrated in both big and small moments. Just a few days ago, Pratt shared snapshots from a romantic pre-Christmas getaway to Telluride, Colorado. The trip gave them a chance to escape the chaos of the entertainment world and simply enjoy the stunning scenery and each other’s company as the year comes to an end.

“A little pre-Christmas get-away. Telluride is famous for its views, but honestly the best view is when I look at this guy and he smiles back at me. His voice is pretty good too. Just sayin 🤠❤️,” she wrote in the caption, paired with a few selfies taken among the snowy mountains.

While they make an effort to cherish these quiet, personal moments together, the Louisiana legend has also been keeping busy in the studio. This holiday season, he released, “One More Christmas,” an emotional ballad that finds him using his signature baritone vocals to capture the bittersweet feeling of wishing you had just one more moment with someone who’s passed.

The message of this song feels especially relevant during a time when the absence of loved ones is felt most.

Adkins sings, “One more / Chance to say I love you too / Yeah, one more / Night to hold what I’m missing / To wrap you in these arms of mine / Snow falling on the pines / This time of year leaves me wishing / For one more / Christmas with you”). Although the song’s second verse stirs up an aching nostalgia (“If you were here you’d be spinning / That old Nat King Cole / And I’d be loving every minute / And dancing you real slow”).”

“‘One More Christmas’ comes shortly after Trace Adkins wrapped up his What Color’s Your Wild Tour. Named after his that dropped last February, the U.S. headlining run began in March and ran through the fall. He also joined Blake Shelton on several dates of the Friends & Heroes Tour earlier this year.
