Over the weekend, Jordan Davis stood in front of a packed-out crowd and revealed that his fastest-growing single, “Next Thing You Know” has officially reached No. 1 on country radio.
He explained that he had heard the news just before getting on stage and that it would be his first time getting to perform the song since reaching the top of the charts. The milestone moment was captured on video and shared to social media.
The post was paired with a heartfelt caption that showcased Davis’ gratitude for everyone who had a hand in bringing this sentimental song to life, including his fellow songwriters, producer, country radio and his record label.
“This song has been a special one since the day I wrote it with…To Greylan, Josh, and Chase, thank y’all for writing this one the way it needed to be written, which was not the traditional way that leads to songs being recorded,” he began. “Thank you Paul for hearing a work-tape of this tune in the studio and then turning it into what you hear today…Thank you Country radio for continuing to support my music and giving me my 6th #1 song…Thank you MCA Nashville for being my biggest champions from the start.”
The multi-platinum, CMA award-winning entertainer went on to thank his loyal listeners for their endless support and love for this song. “And to my fans, y’all don’t know how grateful I am for y’all in making this song what it is…Much love, and cheers to “Next Thing You Know” being #1.”
Jordan Davis’ wife, Kristen, also shared a prideful message for her husband through a social media post that gave fans an inside look at the makings of the recently released “Next Thing You Know” music video.
She wrote, “’Next Thing You Know’ is #1!!!!! So unbelievably proud of @jordandavisofficial on his 6th #1 and in honor of today, here are a few behind-the-scenes snaps from the music video of the two cutest extras on set 💙”
Directed by Running Bear, the video follows one family’s emotional journey, which comes to life through the lyrics of the catchy song.
In the opening clip, viewers see an elderly couple taking one last look at their family home with a “FOR SALE” sign on the front lawn. Then suddenly, the chapters of their love story unfold through each of their milestones and unforgettable memories together. Davis’s family even made a cameo at the end of the tear-jerking video.
In the midst of all his professional success, Davis and his wife also welcomed a baby boy. This marks their third child together, as they are already parents to their 3-year-old daughter Eloise Larkin and their son Locklan Joseph, who was born into the world on September 4, 2021.
On Thursday, June 15, the country singer took to social media to share a black and white photo of his newborn son holding onto his fingers, revealing that his wife has given birth to their son named Elijah Patrick.
His caption read, “God is good! My son Elijah Patrick is in the world…His momma did incredible in getting him here and we hope to get him home to his brother and sister soon.”
Since Elijah has graced their lives, the pair has been seen sharing snippets of some of the adorable memories being made at home, including the moment they introduced their kids to their newest sibling, celebrating Father’s Day, and many more firsts.
The couple announced Kristen’s pregnancy via Instagram in February using Davis’ latest No. 1 hit.
“We’re pregnant. Again. Next thing you know…” Davis said at the time.
They definitely followed the song’s original message which depicts just how fast life can change without you even realizing it.
“You weren’t really tryin’, next thing you know / There’s a test on the counter, next thing you know / She’s standin’ there cryin’, noddin’ her head, “Yes” / You’re half excited, half scared to death,” Davis sings in the second verse, which eventually leads to him dreaming of having grandchildren at the end of the song.
Jordan Davis is currently on the road in support of Dierks Bentley’s GRAVEL & GOLD Tour. Produced by Live Nation, Bentley’s trek kicked off on June 1 and hit a total of 28 cities. Once this run comes to a close, Davis will embark on his headlining DAMN GOOD TIME Tour this fall.
The upcoming stint of shows comes in support of his latest album, Bluebird Days. Davis will kick things off this August 31 in Atlanta at the Roxy before heading to Nashville on Labor Day Weekend. He will hit several more major cities like Philadelphia (10/5), New York (10/6) and Boston (10/7) before wrapping in Las Vegas on October 21.
