Country artist Josh Turner took to social media to share a sweet tribute to his wife in honor of their 19th wedding anniversary.
“Happy 19th Anniversary to my Firecracker. Looking forward to what the next 19 years will bring our way,” the Grand Ole Opry member wrote alongside a sweet snapshot of the couple.
Turner and Jennifer Ford met in the late 90’s when the two attended Belmont University in Nashville, TN. The two of them became fast friends.
“Meeting her wasn’t planned or expected, but our friendship felt completely different,” Turner recalled in his book, Man Stuff: Thoughts on Faith, Family and Fatherhood, released in 2014. “For the first time, I was truly on cloud nine. I can’t really explain that time other than to say it was unbelievable.”
While this friendship felt different than what they were used to, the pair decided to take things slow – in fact, Jennifer did not refer to Josh as her boyfriend until six months into their relationship. In November 2022, Turner was ready to take their relationship to the next level. He planned a romantic surprise proposal at Nashville’s Percy Priest Lake, where he performed “I Can See It In Your Smile,” a song he wrote just for her. He then pulled an engagement ring out of his jacket pocket.
“Jennifer said, ‘Are you serious?’” the GRAMMY-nominated singer recalled. “I said, ‘Yes, I’m serious!’” The couple wed at Snellville United Methodist Church on June 14, 2003 in front of 500 guests.
In celebration of the 15th anniversary of his iconic double Platinum-selling Your Man album, Josh Turner and his wife honored the ballad by recreating the “Your Man” music video.
The pair returned to Nashville’s historic Hermitage Hotel to revisit the music video 15 years later. The new clip reimagines the video for Tuner’s signature hit and even includes a cameo from the couple’s four children: Hampton, Colby, Marion, and Hawke.
Sitting down with People to chat about the anniversary of the album and reimagined video clip, Turner said, “I don’t think anybody has done this, where the same people go back and recreate the video from 15 years prior, in the same location. When I saw the first edit, I just sat there, and I was speechless. I was thinking, this is kind of crazy looking. Once you think you’ve done it all, you haven’t.”
“Obviously being 15 years later, we are with children and life has changed for us,” Turner told the publication. “A lot has happened. And so, it was cool, you know, not just on a professional level, but a personal level to look back and appreciate that kind of stuff.”
Fans may recognize Ford as she has spent quite a bit of time on the road with Josh Turner and his band playing keyboard and singing background vocals over the years.
