Kane Brown and Katelyn Brown’s “Thank God” officially reached the No.1 spot on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.
Country radio insider, Chris Owen, reported the news on Friday afternoon via Twitter.
The marks Kane Brown’s 9th career chart-topper and Katelyn Brown’s first.
“Thank God” was released in September as part of Brown’s latest album, Different Man. The romantic duet immediately resonated with fans and made a major impact upon its official release to country radio.
“Thank God” finds Kane and Katelyn professing their love for one another and admitting that they “Thank God” every single day for bringing them together.
“So, thank God/ I get to wake up by your side and thank God/ Your hand fits perfectly in mine and thank God/ You loved me when you didn’t have to/ But you did and you do and He knew/ Thank God for giving me you/ Oh, yeah, thank God/ Thank God for giving me you,” they sing on the chorus.
“Thank God” was written by Josh Hoge, Jaxson Free, Kyle Fishman, Christian Davis, and Jared Mullins.
Kane previously shared how it ended up in his hands and how it ultimately became a duet with Katelyn.
“So me and Kate have been trying to release a song for like five years now. And we kept getting songs coming in, we thought that you know, each of them was the song for us but it never felt right,” the superstar explained. “So my buddy Josh, that’s signed to my publishing deal, he sent me a song called Thank God and I listened to it and I fell in love with it. And then kept listened to it and kept listening to it. I was like, this could be a duet. So I asked Kate and Kate fell in love with the song and now it’s one of my favorite songs.”
“Thank God” Music Video
The couple paired the release of a song with a picturesque music video that was shot in Hawaii.
Directed by Brown’s longtime collaborator, Alex Alvga, the clip follows the couple around Hawaii as they cruise down a picturesque road in a vintage Bronco with the top down, enjoy a walk through a luscious tropical rainforest, and escape the world together in a mountainside bungalow.
The video concludes with the couple embracing on a beach as the sun sets around them, making for a truly stunning scene.
Kane and Katelyn performed the song together a handful of times while he was touring Canada late last year. The live debut of the song came during Brown’s concert in Ottawa. Although Katelyn admitted she was nervous, she joined her husband on stage for a flawless performance and earned praise from fans and friends alike.
The chart-topping success of “Thank God” follows Brown’s latest No.1 hits, “Like I Love Country Music” and “One Mississippi.” His next radio single has yet to be revealed, however, he has previously teased a new EP release on social media.
