Country superstar Kane Brown is back at the top of the country radio charts once again, this time with his latest smash, “One Mississippi.”
The arena-ready anthem climbed to the No.1 spot on both the Billboard and Country Aircheck/Mediabase airplay charts, securing Brown’s seventh country chart-topper.
The father of two shared his gratitude for the support of country radio earlier this week, simply writing, “One Mississippi is #1! 🙏🏽” on his social media channels.
“One Mississippi” was written by Brown, Jesse Frasure, Levon Gray and Ernest K. Smith and produced by Dann Huff.
The track came to life after Brown discovered Levon Gray, a brand new songwriter, on social media.
“He tagged me in a post, and two other people, and I was the only artist who got back to him. I thought he could sing,” Brown recently told Country Now. “And the song [in the post], he had written himself. I had just started my publishing company, so I was like, ‘I wanna give this guy a chance.’”
That’s when Brown decided to bring Gray into an upcoming writing session with Smith and Frasure.
“I asked them if they would write with a new writer, that nobody in Nashville had heard before. They gave him a chance, and it was kind of like his audition,” Brown recounts. “He came into the writing session with the title ‘One Mississippi.’ I kinda sat back and let him take charge, to see how he was gonna do.”
It turns out, Brown’s intuition was correct. Now, he’s got yet another massive hit on his hands.
The Platinum-selling star will release a brand new song, “Leave You Alone,” on Friday, March 4. Days later, he will take the stage at the 57th ACM Awards for the live performance debut of the track.
