Kane Brown became the first-ever country artist in BET history to debut a song on the BET Awards on Sunday (June 28) when he took the stage at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium for a socially-distanced performance of his poignant single, “Worldwide Beautiful.”

Brown debuted the song alongside Grammy-nominated gospel singer Jonathan McReynolds, who performed his hit song, “People.”

Additionally, the collaborative performance made history as the first performance on the BET Awards to take place in Nashville, Tennessee.

Co-written by Brown alongside Shy Carter, Ryan Hurd and Jordan Schmidt, “Worldwide Beautiful” shares a message of hope about the racial divide. Brown released the song in early June following the death of George Floyd and amid national protests for justice.
