Kane Brown is making his feature film debut. The country hitmaker is officially joining the cast of The Token Groomsman, a new romantic comedy led by Twilight star Taylor Lautner.

The multi-platinum singer will appear on the big screen for the first time as Neil, who is Scott’s (Lautner) best friend, his voice of reason and the man behind the unexpected laughs. He’s the one who keeps it real through the chaotic weekend of searching for either money or love, offering up solid advice and living up to his title as Scott’s “ride or die friend” amid the busy wedding season.

“We knew we needed bold, lovable personalities to match the heart and humor of this story,” said director Natalie Simpkins. “Kane brings something so unique. He has a rare mix of vulnerability and magnetism that’s incredibly compelling.”

The original screenplay was written by Simpkins, John C. Hall, and Sohale Andrus Mortazavi, with Hall also producing alongside Pam Renall through their Retinue Media production company along with Natalie Simpkins. Production will kick off later this year, with The Fithian Group’s Attend platform and Radiant Films International set to bring the film to audiences worldwide. Attend will oversee the 2,500-screen U.S. theatrical release, while Radiant Films International is handling global sales for the project.

“We believe in sharp, commercial comedies that bring audiences together, and The Token Groomsman is exactly that kind of film,” said John Fithian, founding partner of The Fithian Group.

“Working alongside Pam Renall and John C. Hall—two industry veterans with a wealth of marketing, distribution, and filmmaking experience—will be key in shaping the film’s strong release strategy. We’re excited to marry that experience with Attend’s groundbreaking digital tools to bring this film to theaters and beyond.”

A key part of the release plan is the Attend marketplace —an innovative platform that uses box office data, audience insights, social media trends, and live-streamed content to create a stronger, data-driven connection between filmmakers, talent, and their audiences.

“We are thrilled to partner with director Natalie Simpkins and to be representing The Token Groomsman internationally,” said Mimi Steinbauer, President of Radiant. “Her fresh, modern take on romcoms is exactly what makes this film such a great fit for us. It has the perfect blend of humor, heart, and star power to make an impact with audiences around the world.”

What’s destined to be a smart, heart-filled rom-com packed with star power, The Token Groomsman is already generating major buzz. With Kane Brown officially in the mix, that excitement just leveled up.
