Was it love at first sight?

Kane Brown and his wife Katelyn Brown first met through a chance encounter at one of his very first shows. At the time, they were both pursing their own musical careers, but after making an effort to get to know each other better, they seemed to hit it off. Now, Katelyn is revealing that it didn’t take long before she knew that Kane was the one for her.
“I knew the first date,” she shared during the Superstar Power Hour with Audacy’s Katie Neal. “Kane showed up at my house at 3AM — at my parents’ house — while I was sleeping and proposed to me. I thought I was dreaming, had no idea. [I] woke up the next morning engaged… he couldn’t even wait!”
“I was going to hide the ring under the bed, but there were just so many emotions so I was like, ‘Whatever let’s just do this,” Kane added.
They made their relationship official in early 2017 when Kane Brown took to social media to express nothing but love and admiration for his then-girlfriend, Katelyn.
“I know a lot has been going good for me this past year, but being away from my family and friends it’s been tough,” he wrote. “Luckily I found my other half. I know a lot of people might get mad I’m in a relationship but if you’re a true fan u won’t. She keeps me Sane, she keeps me happy she’s my girl. God Bless.”
Married in 2018
Then, after Kane’s spontaneous proposal, they tied the knot at Mint Springs Farm in Nolensville, Tennessee on October 12, 2018. The couple is now raising their two daughters, Kingsley Rose and Kodi Jane.
“He told me the other day, he’s like, ‘I’m going to re-propose to you so I can do one of those sappy things.’ I was like, ‘No.’ It was very us,” Katelyn explained before reflecting on the moment he popped the question. “I sat there and I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m engaged right now, but I can’t tell anyone because everyone’s sleeping, it’s 3 o’clock in the morning.’ I’m like, ‘This is the weirdest thing ever.’”
In addition to being partners in their marriage, they also became musical partners with the release of their first duet, “Thank God.” This fan-favorite love story was co-written by Josh Hoge, Jaxson Free, Kyle Fishman, Christian Davis, and Jared Mullins, and has listeners feeling the love as they express their love for one another. Throughout the romantic chorus, the talented artists admit that they “Thank God” for the fact that they found each other that fateful day and have continued building their lives together ever since.
“So, thank God/ I get to wake up by your side and thank God/ Your hand fits perfectly in mine and thank God/ You loved me when you didn’t have to/ But you did and you do and He knew/ Thank God for giving me you/ Oh, yeah, thank God/ Thank God for giving me you,” they sing.
Their multi-week No.1 single is featured on Brown’s third studio album, Different Man, alongside other chart-topping hits “Like I Love Country Music” and “One Mississippi.” This song saw great success among fans. It even made history with over 210 million streams, making the Browns only the second married couple in country music history to earn a No. 1 on both Billboard and Aircheck charts.
“Thank God”
When Katelyn was asked if she’s interested in returning to her musical roots and continuing down the path of songwriting or recording more music in the future, she shared, “It would be really cool to just create music, even if it was for another female artist — I just love creating, and now that (the studio) is in our house, we’re just talking about having a glass of wine, put the kids to bed, go in there and just sing and create, write some music. Who knows what we could come up with. And we would love to do some more music together. So who knows.”
They’ve already gotten the chance to showcase this dreamy duet during Brown’s Drunk or Dreaming Tour, earning a rave review from the crowds. On Sunday, April 2, they will take the stage for the broadcast world premiere of “Thank God” at the 2022 CMT Music Awards.
