After days of speculation, the news Kenny Chesney fans have been eagerly awaiting is officially here: the country music icon will headline a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
Chesney made the announcement early Thursday, just one day after the Sin City venue shared a cryptic video teaser featuring Chesney’s beloved old blue chair, an acoustic guitar and a cowboy hat. Fans quickly connected the dots, realizing the hint was clear: Chesney was bringing his music to the Sphere.
The 12-date residency will kick off on Thursday, May 22 and run select dates through Saturday, June 14.
Joining Fellow Legends: Kenny Chesney Set to Headline the Sphere
Chesney joins an elite group of artists – including U2, Dead & Company, Eagles, Phish and Afterlife Presents Anyma – to headline the 17,600-seat venue, which has revolutionized live entertainment with cutting-edge technology.
“I’m always looking for ways to deepen the way No Shoes Nation experiences this music,” Chesney shared. “Over the years, they have shown me through their own response to these songs how passionate they are about what they mean, how these songs are part of their lives. When people give you that much heart, I want to give them even more.

“When we started talking about all of the possibilities playing Sphere offered, I was all in. Just the idea of 4D technology and the impossibly dialed in sound raises the experience for No Shoes Nation, literally immersing them in music, visuals, sound and being together. To me, this is going to be a whole new way of rocking the fans, and I can’t wait.”
A Fully Immersive and Completely Unique Experience
Inside the Sphere, concertgoers will experience a show like no other. It features 167,000 individual speakers that can be precisely tuned to specific sections, creating a unique audio experience. Its fully immersive visuals boast over 171 million pixels displayed on a massive 160,000-square-foot screen that wraps around and above the audience. Additionally, the venue incorporates 4D technologies, such as haptic seats, to provide a truly multisensory experience.
According to a release, the video content for Chesney’s upcoming shows at the Sphere needed to be filmed using a specialized camera designed specifically for the Sphere’s configuration. The visuals will be unlike anything the superstar’s fans have experienced at his shows, elevating the music with a 16K x 16K resolution wraparound screen, which happens to be the world’s highest-resolution LED display.

The East Tennessee native reportedly agreed to bring his show to the Sphere after learning about its groundbreaking technology—without ever attending a concert there.
“When we started talking, I flew to Vegas with my key tour team. We stood on the floor as they ran the film of U2’s show and we were completely consumed. We could see the band, but it was so much more than that. It almost took what they were doing and multiplied it by another dimension,” he recalls.
“Knowing how much intensity our shows generate, my mind started thinking about all the things we could do. Once you see how the show wraps all the way around you, the dreaming begins.”
These plans have been in the works for nearly a year, with the eight-time Entertainer of the Year working closely with his team and the creative team at the Sphere to create the best show possible. They promise a “a whole new experience in the way his music is experienced.”
