Lainey Wilson’s passion for making music and performing began at an early age, leading her to start touring in eighth grade. Since then, her career has skyrocketed and she’s barely had the chance to come up for air as a result. Now with the U.S. leg of her Whirlwind tour behind her, she’s excited to enjoy something as simple as being bored.

In taking this necessary break, Wilson hopes to get back to doing the things that make her feel like herself, like sitting around the bonfire, sleeping in, hanging out on the porch with her French bulldog Hippie and most of all, spending time with loved ones.

“I’m excited to have my own little farm and get back to doing those things that make me me and made me want to write music,” she tells NME.

Getting to experience all these things while celebrating the small moments with her family by her side is what has made the Louisiana native such a good, authentic storyteller. “That’s country music right there.”

Exploring Creativity Through A New Lens

Wilson has become a pro at being able to pen hit songs even with her hectic artist schedule, so her creativity hasn’t suffered as a result. However, she admitted to being curious about what kind of inspiration will strike her once the boredom officially sets in.

“The truth is I can always fight for creativity,” Wilson tells the outlet. “I’ve been able to write with such incredible writers [who] taught me how to put myself into the shoes of whatever we’re writing.”

Thanks to the lessons she’s learned over the years from these fellow artists, she’s able to pull a song out of just about anything, even a tapestry of wild horses hanging on the wall behind her.

“If we want to write about this thing right here, they taught me how to feel it for everything that it is,” she said pointing to the artwork. “But I’m excited to see – because I have not had it in a long time – what creativity means for me when I get bored.”

Returning To The Road In March

Following Lainey Wilson’s performance at Luke Bryan’s annual Crash My Playa on January 18, she won’t take the stage again until embarking on her Whirlwind European Tour on March 4. This trek comes in support of her latest album and runs through March with stops across Switzerland, Germany, the UK and more.

“I never thought someone on the other side of the world would relate to [my music],” Wilson told the outlet. “I just figured I was writing for people like me, from little towns like mine…The more I go over there, the more I realize how much we all have in common.”

She also has a slew of festival dates in store throughout the summer. For a full list of Wilson’s upcoming performances, click HERE.
