Koe Wetzel made an generous donation to his former school district in his hometown of Pittsburg, Texas to ensure every student is equipped with the right tools and any other items needed for a successful school year.
This marks the country music sensation’s sixth annual donation to the district, according to KLTV. With his most recent contribution of $15,000, $5,000 is being allotted towards the athletics program, while the remaining $10,000 will be put toward other student essentials, including various school supplies and snacks as well as clothing and shoes.
The “Sweet Dreams” singer graduated from the Pittsburg Independent School District in 2011, but the students and faculty still hold a special place in his heart.
Superintendent Terry Waldrep confirmed this as he claims that Wetzel “Still keeps up with the school… still takes pride in his hometown.”
Wetzel’s Mom Speaks On His Kindness
Koe Wetzel’s mom, Julie Wetzel, who is employed by the district, also stated that her son has always had great empathy for others and noted it “broke his heart” when classmates didn’t have the proper supplies for their learning. Now that he has made a name for himself, Wetzel is using his platform to make sure he does what he can to help the students reach their full potential.
“He doesn’t want anybody to go without. Doesn’t want anybody to walk in without new clothes,” Julie Wetzel said before adding, “He’s a sweet boy and has a heart of gold.”
According to Waldrep, each district will have the opportunity to allocate Wetzel’s donation in a way that best meets their specific needs.
New Album, “9 Lives,” Out Now
Koe Wetzel continues to prove he is a force to be reckoned with among his peers. He recently reached a new level of vulnerability when he released his new album, 9 Lives. While working closely with his producer, Gabe Simon, the Texas native discovered a newfound freedom to share raw and honest stories of his life through this 13-track collection that puts his country/rock/hip-hop/grunge sound on full display.
“Every record’s almost turning a new leaf, always a left turn because of how honest I am. I want fans to know that there’s a different side of me, not just the sex, drugs, and rock & roll Koe that they may have heard about online,” Wetzel previously shared. “I’ve grown up a little bit. I’m no longer the 20-year-old kid that’s partying down and getting thrown in jail all the time. 9 Lives reveals a vulnerable side that people may not be used to hearing.”
Damn Near Normal World Tour
After serving as support on select dates of Morgan Wallen’s One Night At A Time World Tour this summer, Koe Wetzel has lunched his headlining Damn Near Normal World Tour.
He kicked off this run in The Woodlands, TX on July 27 and will continue with stops in U.S. cities such as Boston, MA, Atlantic City, NJ, Columbia, CO, Kansas City, KS, St. Louis, MO and more through mid October. Then beginning October 16, he will bring his live show across the pond to the UK, Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.
