Kenny Chesney’s New Video for ‘Just To Say We Did’ Takes Fans on a Journey Through His Iconic Career
When creating the video, Chesney realized that the song is essentially “the crazy story of this dream, my band, road family and every single person we’ve encountered along the way.”

Kenny Chesney gives fans a chance to re-live his historic career and epic live show throughout the new music video for his latest single, “Just To Say We Did.”
The just-released clip features footage that looks back on nearly three decades of archives from his live shows, tour antics, the early days of his career, and more. In just two minutes and thirty seconds, viewers see shots of his early band and crew, scenes from his beachside, popup Keg in the Closet Shows, and more intermixed with stunning footage from his massive stadium concerts, including highlights from his current Sun Goes Down Tour.
Director Shuan Silva worked closely with Chesney, who wrote “Just To Say We Did” alongside Brett James and David Lee Murphy, and Matt Dragstrem to bring the song to life.
“I wanted a song that really lifted up the heart of No Shoes Nation, these super-passionate people who just live wide open right where they are and create fun when they’re not working harder than anyone,” Chesney explained. “And when it came time to do a video, how do you capture that? Where do you go or how do you show it? But really, No Shoes Nation is all of it.”
The superstar revealed that as they reviewed hours of tour footage, it became clear to him: “We realized ‘Just To Say We Did’ is the crazy story of this dream, my band, road family and every single person we’ve encountered along the way.”
He couldn’t have said it better. Growing up as a young boy in East Tennessee, Chesney could have never imagined the kind of career he’d create. Now an eight-time Entertainer of the Year with a whopping 36 No.1 singles, countless other awards and accolades, and a touring legacy like no other, he admits his dream once seemed completely outrageous.
“When we ran off to join the circus, I had no idea it could ever be what this is. I made a joke about playing Neyland Stadium, because it seemed crazy – and we’ve now played over 200 stadium shows for the greatest fans, the loudest, proudest, most passionate people in the world. If you want to talk about shooting a shot? Here you go,” he said. “It’s easy to come out to a show, and think it was always like this. We are two decades into playing these major stadiums, and it’s awesome. But when I look at these moments – Grace Potter in a cowboy hat, Bobby Lowe on a motorcycle in a hallway or Jill and Helena rocking out in a corridor – that’s where I realize how much fun we’ve had, and hopefully all of the citizens of No Shoes Nation have had, too. Because looking at this, I know we sure can say we did!”
“Just To Say We Did” is featured on Chesney’s latest album, BORN, which dropped earlier this year. The 15-track project also includes the chart-topping hit, “Take Her Home.”
Chesney’s Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour will come to a close this weekend with an unprecedented three-night run at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. Joining him each night will be Zac Brown Band, Megan Moroney, and Uncle Kracker.
