Krystal Keith, daughter of the late country music icon Toby Keith, recently took to Instagram to share a heartfelt reflection on a special collaboration with her father.

An Emotional Instagram Post

In the post, Krystal revealed that her first album holds a significant place in her heart, not only because it marked her debut into the country music world but also because because of her father’s role in the album.

“Not many people know, but my dad produced AND made a cameo on my debut album and it’s one of my most prized possessions because of the work we did together to bring it to life,” she shared late Tuesday.

She went on to say that she feels “so lucky” to have the chance to listen to their voices together for “eternity.”

“And as luck would have it, listening to it is exactly that, a beautiful weakness for me,” she concluded, referencing the seventh track on her Whiskey & Lace album. Her dad provides background vocals and harmonies throughout the track.

Debut Album Released In 2013

Whiskey & Lace was released on December 10, 2013, through Show Dog-Universal Nashville. Produced by Toby Keith and Mark Wright, the album features 10 tracks.

The album also features Krystal’s breakout song, “Daddy Dance With Me,” which has become a popular daddy/daughter dance song at weddings.

Toby Keith passed away on February 5, 2024, at the age of 62 following a battle with stomach cancer. Following his untimely passing, Krystal shared a heartwrenching tribute to her father on social media, admitting she was absolutely “shattered” by his passing.

“As great as he was in his career, he was so much greater as a dad and a husband and a Pop Pop. He was my hero,” she wrote. “I am so lucky to have had him and so grateful he got to walk me down the aisle and meet my babies. That I have years of memories traveling the world as a family. I am blessed that I got to spend years traveling on the road and singing on stage with him. That I have mountains of video footage and endless tracks of music to watch him on and hear his voice with. I’m lucky I got to say goodbye and tell him what he meant to me.”

She later added, “I will forever honor him. The pain is so unbelievably deep and it feels like I have a literal broken heart but I know that it wouldn’t hurt so bad if we didn’t love him and get to be loved so deeply by him. He never made me wonder if he would be there for me.”
