Charles Kelley is opening up about his health as he continues treatment for multiple myeloma, a rare form of blood cancer. The Lady A singer recently shared an honest update with fans, explaining that while his treatment is working “really well,” the process has taken a toll on his body.
“We are team tired over here. It’s been good,” he began.
With his wife Cassie seated next to him, Kelley explained that going into treatment, he “naively” thought that he wouldn’t be in much pain. Unfortunately, he found that has not been the case.
“The drugs are definitely pretty hard on your body. A lot of this cancer is inside of my bones and stuff in the marrow. And so I have full body aches a lot. It’s kind of constantly achy and really tired, but I do have my good days and my bad days,” he admitted.

Even though this has clearly been a tough journey for both him and Cassie, the country singer-songwriter remains hopeful as he fights through it. He also revealed that the treatment has been working well, and he is feeling optimistic that he will begin to feel better physically soon as well.
“Good thing is the treatment is working and I’m hoping that as the chemo gets in there and fights off these cancer cells, that my bones and everything will actually feel a lot better over the next few weeks,” he said before adding, “But it ain’t no joke, man. It’s real.”
Charles Kelley shared his diagnosis with the world on September 29. At the time, he stated that the cancer was discovered after he sustained a “couple random rib fractures.” This prompted his doctor to have him undergo several blood tests, and they ultimately discovered the cancer through one of the last tests they ran.
“I’m young. I feel healthy and the treatments, I will say, have just come so far, even in the past five years, that even life expectancy is just far exceeds what it used to be. And I don’t know, I feel really hopeful. I really do,” he said in the video message.
Throughout their relationship, the couple has stood by each other during some of life’s most difficult moments. When Kelley began addressing his struggles with alcohol, Cassie was there to support him and she has remained a source of strength throughout his current health battle. Together, they are raising two children, Ward Charles, born in February 2016, and Archer Lancaster, born in September 2025.
Kelley previously spoke about the importance of being transparent with fans about his diagnosis and so far, he has done just that.
