On Monday, Oct. 21, Lainey Wilson visited the small mountain town of Chimney Rock Village, North Carolina, to offer her support and assistance to the community that was severely impacted by Hurricane Helene.

The village is located Rutherford County, North Carolina, which sits in the valley below Chimney Rock State Park. The town’s economy has relied on tourism from Chimney Rock Park for over a century, but with the recent storm surge, the communities are facing great devastation as many of the homes and businesses have been completely swept away.

A recent post on the Chimney Rock Village official Facebook account reveals that Wilson heard about what the people of North Carolina are going through and wanted to lend a helping hand. Her surprise visit was welcomed with open arms and great appreciation. She was captured speaking to members of the local law enforcement and commended on her kind actions.

The caption reads, “Country music superstar Lainey Wilson made a surprise visit to the Village to offer encouragement and thank the Sheriff’s Department and Chimney Rock Village Fire Department for their work. The Village is appreciative of efforts to bring awareness and support to our community.”

In another post on X (formerly Twitter), a member of the impacted community and fellow artist shared a photo he snapped with the “Country’s Cool Again” singer. He thanked her for also bringing some “much-needed” supplies with her.

“Just met @laineywilson at the Chimney Rock fire station, she dropped off some much-needed supplies. Thanks Lainey and team!”

It has been more than three weeks since Hurricane Helene ripped through the south and many are still without power, searching for their loved ones and trying to dig themselves out of the disaster.

According to the North Carolina department of health and human services, the number of storm-related fatalities in North Carolina has risen to 96 as of Oct. 22, 2024. USA Today also reports that the updated toll includes 49 deaths in South Carolina, 33 in Georgia, 27 in Florida, 17 in Tennessee and 2 in Virginia.

Lainey Wilson Gets Emotional Over Helene Survivor

This visit to North Carolina followed an emotional moment the female songstress had during a show in Alpharetta, Georgia, over the weekend, where as she spotted a fan with a sign that read “We survived Helene #HaywoodCountyNC.”

Lainey Wilson took a few moments of silence to take in the sign before offering a few words of condolences to anyone in the audience who was affected by the storms in some way.

“We all know that North Carolina and a lot of other states have been through a lot, even parts of Georgia, in the past few weeks,” she said before pausing again as tears welled up in her eyes. “I just want to say, ‘tonight, I know a lot of y’all are probably [dealing] with heartbreak for your friends and your family and my heart is with y’all, my crew’s heart is with y’all. We’re going to lay at his feet tonight.”

Wilson then dedicated the concert to the fans who handed her the sign, saying, “I’m so thankful that y’all are here tonight. This show is for y’all.”

That concert-goer shared snippets of this memorable night to Instagram and penned a heartfelt message for Wilson’s tear-full speech, noting how much it meant to her.

The fan wrote, “Nothing could have prepared us for last night, or for the effect it would have on so many people. Hurricane Helene destroyed our friends and loved ones homes, farms and businesses. Lives were lost, many are still missing. We only wanted to show LW love, not expecting anything from her in return. However, in true Lainey fashion- her genuine heart and soul left us, and herself in tears.”
