After making an impressive debut on the season premiere of Dancing with the Stars last Monday, Lauren Alaina is feeling more confident and is ready to strut her stuff with partner Gleb Savchenko tonight.
The Georgia native woke up early to dial into The Bobby Bones Show this morning, where she opened up about how she’s feeling going into the second week of the show. Joking that she’s practiced dancing “too many” hours over the past week, Alaina shared that dancing has pretty much consumed her life at this point.
“All I do is dance and when I’m not dancing, I’m sitting on the couch replaying it in my head,” she confessed to host and reigning DWTS champ, Bobby Bones. “I’ve never in my life thought about counting more…I’m like 5, 6, 7, 8, 1, 2, 3 ,4… Everywhere I go, it’s like all I do is think about the dance.”
Last week, the 24-year-old danced a cha cha to a version of Shania Twain’s “Man, I Feel Like a Woman.” She admitted that she was “so nervous” but felt some relief after earning a 19/30 score from the judges.
“Once I sat down in that chair to do the dance, it was like that the performer in me took over and then I was able to do it. The biggest thing I was so worried about was smiling because when you’re so focused it’s hard to smile,” she explained. “But I did and I got the third-highest score of the night, which was very unexpected. I was so proud, I was really proud. It gave me more confidence to do this week. It made me feel like okay, maybe I can do this because I was very nervous that I was going to get out there and forget all of the steps or something cause I’ve never danced and it is so intimidating to be dancing with someone who’s one of the best dancers in the world and you don’t know what you’re doing at all.”
The singer remained tight-lipped about tonight’s performance, however, she shared that she and Gleb will be dancing a Paso Doble.
The current season of DWTS also features The Bachelorette’s Hannah Brown, Queer Eye star Karamo Brown, Dawson’s Creek’s James Van Der Beek, NFL legend Ray Lewis, former Fifth Harmony singer Ally Brooke, NBA star Lamar Odom, Kenan and Kel star Kel Mitchell, former Supremes singer Mary Wilson, former White House press secretary Sean Spicer and The Office star Kate Flannery. An injury sidelined supermodel Christie Brinkley at the last minute, leaving her 21-year-old daughter, Sailor Brinkley-Cook, to take her place competing on the show.
Dancing With the Stars airs tonight at 8/7c on ABC.
