It was “Boy Band and Girl Group” night on the latest episode of Dancing with the Stars, which means competitors danced to music from artists ranging from the Spice Girls to the Backstreet Boys.
This week stress levels were high as the dancers had to perform twice. Not only that, but also the panel of judges included celebrity guest and former *NSYNC member, Joey Fatone, who competed on an earlier season of DWTS.
Luckily, country music star Lauren Alaina shined bright during both of her performances. The 24-year-old singer and her partner, Gleb Savchenko, first earned a score of 34/40 with their impressive Quickstep set to “Can’t Hurry Love” by The Supremes. For the display, the pair alluringly moved across the floor, incorporating spins and sashays into their routine before hearing from the judges.

“There were one, or two little moments during that [dance] which weren’t quite dead on point,” judge Len Goodman said after the performance. “But I liked it a lot.”
Carrie Ann Inaba disagreed with Goodman’s critical opinion saying, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I thought it was fantastic. It was amazing and on point. I loved the way you danced. You are full every single time. I loved it.”
In the second round, Alaina and Savchenko received a little bit of help in rehearsals from AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys before they brought the heat with a sensual Rumba to BSB’s “I Want It That Way.”

“I can’t believe how far you’ve grown,” Ann Inaba proudly told Alaina. “You’ve come so far! I can’t believe this is you from week one. The growth is phenomenal! You are so in tune with your body. There’s such beautiful confidence and sensuality that is being exposed here. There’s also a vulnerability mixed with power. It’s an amazing artistic explosion of a lot of things.”
Alaina and Savchenko received All 9’s for their second offering, earning them a total of 70/80. Additionally, they did appear in the bottom two, but were saved by the judges. They will now compete in the semi-finals. Unfortunately for Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer and dance partner Jenna Johnson, they were eliminated from the competition.
Be sure to keep up with Dancing with the Stars Monday nights at 8/7 c on ABC.
