Country hitmaker Lauren Alaina took to Instagram stories on Friday (Dec. 31) to clarify pregnancy rumors after a tabloid reported that she was expecting.

An unknown media outlet claimed that the country superstar and American Idol alum was seen sporting a baby bump on Thursday (Dec. 30), which prompted the “Getting Over Him” singer to address the rumor directly.

“Some story ran that I was seen out with a belly bump and am pregnant,” Alaina wrote in her Instagram stories.

The soon-to-be Grand Ole Opry member then joked, “LOL. Trisha [McClanahan] and I have decided this means we have officially made it.”

“P.S. I am not pregnant,” Alaina concluded.

The 27-year-old is known to be honest with her fans, so it’s no surprise that she addressed the speculation head-on.

Most recently, Alaina opened up about her struggles with depression and the impact that had on her latest album, Sitting Pretty on Top of the World.

“’Sitting Pretty on Top of the World’ is about being a woman and the struggles I have faced being a woman, you know, very public breakups to thinking I was never gonna be in a relationship again to hoping for a future and feeling hopeful,” Alaina told Entertainment Tonight. “I tried to cover all of that.”

The Georgia native also detailed her battle with bulimia in her new book, Getting Good at Being You: Learning to Love Who God Made You to Be.

“They told me that if I didn’t stop, I would never sing again, and I didn’t want that,” she shared of her eating disorder. “That was a wake-up call for me, and it took me a few years even after that to really get into a better place. And I still go check in with the therapist every once in a while, specifically for an eating disorder.”

“But I’m healthy now, and I got some curves, and I’m proud of ’em!” she exclaimed.

2021 was a milestone year for Alaina. In late December 2021, she was surprised by Trisha Yearwood with an invitation to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry.

Alaina was overcome with emotion as she dropped to her knees in shock as she admitted, “I did not expect this.”
