Jon Pardi and Luke Bryan teamed up to release “Cowboys and Plowboys,” a collaboration that celebrates the artists’ lifestyles as cowboys and farmers while also pointing out that they’re more alike than they are different.

The much-anticipated track arrived on Friday (Oct. 13) after Pardi and Bryan teased it on social media earlier in the week. Infused with traditional country production, including a fiddle, “Cowboys and Plowboys” is filled with top-tapping country charm.

Lyrics

“I wear a 20X American hat/ A gold buckle from a rodeo,” Pardi sings in the opening lines. Then Bryan chimes in, “I wear a dusty old co-op cap/ Make my livin’ on them old turn rows.”

The artists point out their preferred modes of transportation, a quarter horse and a tractor, as well as their go-to libations, whiskey and a beer, before joining together on the chorus.

“Cowboys and plowboys/ Just some good old small town boys/ Both make the world go ’round boys/ Boy, ain’t that the truth?/ Yeah, we got different roots, we wear different boots/ But we ain’t that different when the day is through/ So, here’s to the cowboys and plowboys like me and you/ Just like me and you,” they sing.

Given the nature of the song, some may assume that Pardi and Bryan co-wrote the tune, however, it was written by Rhett Akins, Jacob Rice and Cole Taylor. Nevertheless, it’s as if the track was written with the two artists in mind. They took it and made it their own and it will undoubtedly be a massive hit. “Cowboys and Plowboys” is officially being shipped to country radio on Monday, October 16.

“I Can’t Wait For People To Hear It”

As two artists with history together, collaborating was a no-brainer.

“I’ve always looked up to Luke as a songwriter and an artist, and he’s a great friend. We’ve been on tour together and he’s been someone that has inspired me along the way and always had my back. We’ve been excited to put this song out for a long time, and I can’t wait for people to hear it,” Pardi shared.

Bryan added, “When the writers sent this song I couldn’t stop listening to it and I’m so glad it worked out for Pardi to be the one I got to sing it with. He is one of the most genuine artists I know. What you see is truly what you get and I respect what he continues to build.”
