Megan Moroney just dropped one of her most talked-about songs yet, “Beautiful Things.” After fans fell in love with the tune on her record-breaking Am I Okay? Tour this year, the track is finally out and set to appear on her upcoming, yet-to-be-announced third studio album.

The songstress first introduced the heartfelt ballad during a surprise appearance with Ed Sheeran at Nashville’s Bluebird Café back in March. But the excitement around the song really took off months later during her first-ever headlining stadium show at Credit One Stadium in Charleston, SC where fans captured the performance and the story behind it. This clip quickly gained momentum online, leading it to become both a staple in her live shows and a highly-anticipated release.

That night in Charleston, Moroney told the crowd that she wrote “Beautiful Things” for her niece. She explained that, knowing what she went through in her early years, she wanted to write a story that would protect the young girl from the inevitable challenges she’d face later in life.

“When she was born, I remember just looking at her and being like, ‘She’s so perfect, and I just never want anything sad to happen to her,’” Moroney told the crowd in mid-September.

Produced by Kristian Bush and co-written by Moroney, Connie Harrington, Jessie Jo Dillon, and Jessi Alexander, “Beautiful Things” offers a deeply empathetic and comforting message. The Georgia native begins by painting a vivid picture of a young woman standing alone in her bathroom, feeling left out and questioning her worth, while everyone else seems to be moving on without her.

“You’re standing at your bathroom mirror/ Crying “what did I do?” tears/ Your friends are out and you’re right here/ There’s a party, you didn’t know/ You just found out from your phone/ Did they not want you to go?/ Oh oh oh, yeah, you feel that twisting knife/ Oh, I know it ain’t right,” sings Moroney.

As the song unfolds, it shifts from heartbreak to a message of hope and healing. Through gentle metaphors, she reminds listeners how the world can be cruel to “Beautiful Things” Moroney then reflects back to her own moments of doubt and offers reassurance that there’s actually nothing wrong with the girl looking at herself in the mirror.

“You’re pretty and you’re smart/ God made a work of art/ Girl, don’t pick yourself apart/ And quit wondering why he did it/ Nothing ‘bout you needs fixin’/ It ain’t what you are, it’s what he isn’t,” she continues in the next verse.

Megan Moroney showcased the tune once again on October 14, when she hosted a surprise pop-up at La La Land Kind Café in Nashville. Standing before a lucky group of fans, the country star performed an all-acoustic solo set that included “Beautiful things,” her 4X PLATINUM No. 1 breakout “Tennessee Orange” and her second career No. 1, “Am I Okay?”

Her newest release is set to appear on the follow-up project to her CMA Album of the Year nominated, Am I Okay?. The upcoming collection will also include her highest Billboard Hot 100 debut to date, “6 Months Later.”

Moroney recently celebrated the end of her AM I OKAY? TOUR with her first-ever live album, Am I Okay? Tour (Live), featuring 24 tracks. She is now in Australia for a series of shows that began with a sold-out performance at Brisbane’s Riverstage on October 23. Next up, she will appear at the two-stop Ridin’ Hearts Festival 2025 at Sydney Showground on Saturday, October 25, and Melbourne’s Caribbean Gardens on Sunday, October 26.
