The countdown to Christmas is on and Little Big Town is helping fans get into the holiday spirit with the star-studded music special, Little Big Town’s Christmas at the Opry.
Airing on December 16, the two-hour holiday celebration will take fans inside Nashville’s famous Grand Ole Opry with performances from hosts Little Big Town as well as Dan + Shay, Kelsea Ballerini, Sheryl Crow, Kirk Franklin, Josh Groban, Kate Hudson and Orville Peck.
“We are simply beside ourselves to announce that we will host our own NBC Holiday Special at the prestigious Grand Ole Opry House,” Opry members Little Big Town shared. “This is an incredible honor for us, and we are beyond thrilled to share this special evening with viewers and fans across the country. We’ve invited some of our dearest friends to join us on stage, and we can’t wait for everyone to experience the magic of the holidays at such an incredible venue,” added Little Big Town. “After 25 years as a band, we are also excited to release our very first Christmas album, we are thrilled to perform some of those classics during this Special.”
“This fantastic array of country stars will perform songs that are so meaningful and personal to all of us during the holiday season, and we’re incredibly excited to share these intimate moments with our audience,” Jen Neal, Executive Vice President, Live Events and Specials, NBCUniversal Entertainment, added. “Plus, to have them all gather at the iconic Grand Ole Opry House makes it even more special.”
Little Big Town’s Christmas at the Opry airs on December 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. The festive special will also be available for streaming on Peacock starting the following day.
The special comes on the heels of Little Big Town’s first-ever Christmas album, The Christmas Record. The project arrived in early October and features a mix of country classics, including “Tennessee Christmas,” “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” and “Santa Claus Is Back In Town” and a few originals.
2024 has been another stellar year for the band, composed of Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet, and Jimi Westbrook. They celebrated their 25th anniversary with the release of their first-ever Greatest Hits album. This project features 12 tracks that define the award-winning quartet and also includes collaborations with Kelsea Ballerini, Miranda Lambert, and Sugarland.
In celebration of this milestone moment, Little Big Town embarked on the Take Me Home Tour with special guest Sugarland in mid-October. The trek will wrap up this Friday, Dec. 13 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
