RaeLynn met her future husband Josh Davis at church in 2012. While she had a feeling there was something special about him, it took some time for her to realize he was “the one.”

“We went to this wedding, our friend’s wedding, a couple weeks later and kind of hit it off. We dated for a little bit, and then we didn’t know,” RaeLynn recalled to The Boot. “We knew we really liked each other, but we weren’t sure about it, so we were just friends for about a year, and then we realized we really loved each other.”

After a bit of planning, Davis pulled off the perfect surprise proposal, sending RaeLynn on an epic scavenger hunt around Nashville. After making stops at several places that played an important role in their relationship, the couple ended up at Belmont University where Davis proposed.

“He makes me better at everything I do,” RaeLynn shared with Us Weekly after the October 2015 proposal. “I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him.”

After celebrating their engagement with an ugly Christmas sweater themed party thrown by RaeLynn’s friend and former The Voice coach, Blake Shelton, the couple said “I do” on a Franklin, Tennessee farm on February 27, 2016.

300 guests, including Shelton and his girlfriend Gwen Stefani, attended the whimsical, woodland-themed soiree.

The following year, the newlyweds revealed that Davis had enlisted in the military. He already entered basic training at the time of the announcement.

It’s been a major adjustment for the couple.

“There’s a level of sacrifice that you have to do as a military spouse that the average person might not have to do,” she previously told People. “You can’t talk to your significant other all the time. There’s the fear of when they do deploy, of not seeing them again and that underlying fear of just hoping that they’re okay.”

Though things may be tough at times, the singer supports her husband 100-percent.

“He’s doing something so honorable, and I’m just so proud of him,” she said.
