Country superstar Luke Bryan is celebrating a new career milestone this week as his latest single, “Waves,” reached the top spot on both the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase charts.
The song became the fifth consecutive No.1 single from his latest album and his 27th overall career chart-topper.
“It’s crazy to know we are five singles deep off the ‘Born Here Live Here Die Here’ album,” Bryan shared with Billboard. “The longevity that country radio and my fans have given my career truly means a lot. I have never taken for granted that I get to make my living doing something that makes me so happy. Thank you for this #1 and loving a song about summer love!”
Written by Zach Crowell, Ryan Hurd and Chase McGill, “Waves” is featured on the deluxe version of Bryan’s most recent album, Born Here Live Here Die Here.
The heartfelt song finds Bryan reminiscing on a summer love.
“You were made for summer / Just like these stars we’re under / We’re made for lighting this July sky up / Blanket down made for me and you tied up/ All night long, over and over / Crash into me and pull me closer / Kiss by kiss, one after another / Don’t let go, baby, let this summer / Just keep on coming in waves / Keep coming in waves / Keep on coming in waves / Keep coming in waves,” he sings on the chorus.
Bryan, a five-time Entertainer of the Year, is in the midst of his Proud To Be Right Here Tour and is preparing to launch his 2021 Farm Tour beginning September 9. The Proud To Be Right Here Tour features special guests Dylan Scott and Runaway June, while the Farm Tour will include appearances from Scott, Whitney Duncan, The Peach Pickers (Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip) and DJ Rock.
The Georgia native recently made headlines with the release of his brand new docuseries, Luke Bryan: My Dirt Road Diary. The five-part series is streaming now on IMDB TV.
Included in the documentary is “Songs You Never Heard,” a brand new song Bryan wrote in honor of his late brother, Chris. Click below to listen to the sentimental track.
